The Love of Money is a root of all evil

This is very true that the love of money is the root of all evil. Money alone is not sin because we can used it to buy our needs and wants but if you love that money so much that could lead to covetousness, and that's sin already. There are lot of crimes right now because people wanted to have that money, to exalt themselves. To be famous. I just wonder why people really craves for money. We should be contented on how much money we earned from hardwork.

Money can be good if you're only viewing it as an instrument to purchase goods,to pay bills,a gift of charity.Sometimes money can be a source of evil if people are obsessed with money and they don't have faith in God that they can commit crimes just to have it.

I agree. Despite the fact that Muetti is currently doing part-time on a reliable MLM (I mostly never trusted anything about them, but what the heck), we strive to use money as an instrument to buy goods and to do one of the things I like best: give to charity. I did not enter PCH contests or lotteries to be rich - I want to donate my winnings to help schools whose music education programs are facing the budget cut guillotine and autistic people like me. I agree that using money the wrong way can be bad. You are worshiping it, instead of God, in the process.

Money is a static, inactive thing;therefore,it can not have evil intent-it is not evil. Using money as a tool to kill, maim, injure, hurt, humiliate, embarrass,or otherwise exploit others for personal gain or gratification is evil;plain and simple.

I sooo agree with you friend. Many people misconstrued moneyas the root of all evil but it's not really money that is the root of all evil but the love (or greed) for money is. We need money to buy us all our needs. We even need money to help other people. But if we greed for money, then that's when evil takes place. I guess there are many factors on why some people never get contented on what they have. Some of these factors lie in what the Catholic church defines as the "Seven Capital Sins", such as Envy, Pride, Gluttony, and of course, Greed.

Not money itself is the root of all evil. Money is an instrument towards financial growth, education and progress. It is essential for us to buy the basic commodities such as food, shelter and clothing. But when people tends to love money and became it's main priority, it breeds greed, theft, lust and other vices of evil. The love of it is the root of all evil. Money shouldn't be a greater priority over the love for your family or your love ones.

no friend actually loving to get money will not lead to evil. when we try to make money in the illegal way it will leads to all the path for evil. the money is the important thing in our life, without money we cannot even make a step. so it is important to have faith in money but try to get that in the honest way.

I agree. The quest for money can sometimes lead people down immoral and unethical roads.

It all depends on how we use the money. Money can ba great tool to improve one's life and to help other people. Without money, it would be difficult to survive today without money considering that money does matter. I worked to earn money, I spend it to support myself and my family. I also save money for the future hoping that by the time I get old, I and my family will not suffer. We have to face it, not all things in life are free. But I try my best not to be blinded and not to be greed. If we are blinded and let money dictate our life, then that roukd probably be the time when we coukd say that money could be the source of evil.

I do so agree with you! There is so much more to life than money. Family, Nature, the mountains, sites to see, laughing, children, hobbies and so much more. Life is so full and wonderous and so little of it really have to be because of money. Wanting money makes us put all those things away to reach for more money.

I think that most people in this world love money and would do many things to get hold of it. Unfortunately, we all need money to be able to survive, so it makes sense that it means a lot to us in our every day lives. I think that a lot of people can get addicted to making money, and this means that they might try to do things that hurt other people in order to get hold of the money that they want in their lives. Money can be evil if we let it take over our lives, but I think that as long as we are careful we should be okay, really.

Thanks for sharing your discussion "The love of money is a root of all evil". For me i believe in this cause sometimes people forget the importance of money and sometimes they tend to make crimes or use it on vices or something like that and cause to harm people. I love money but i'm using it on the right way.

I agree and let's be aware that you cannot have two masters. As stated in Matthew 6:24 "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon." Money is important just like other worldly things but all of them are important "temporarily" in this world. That's why it's wrong to love it and make our world revolve around material and worldly things. As the saying goes, wealth, power and fame... all of which are left in this sinful world when you die, in other words you can't bring them with you when you die. Thus, better be wise in using them if ever GOD gave them to you when you're still living. Lastly, let me share this to you. Worldly success doesn’t equate with true victory, nor will good works earn us a spot in Heaven. We know Jesus is the ONLY way (John 14:6).

Sorry, I don't agree with this statement. I believe that most of us love money. For me, I love money because of what it can do for me and for other people. For instance, I have always wanted to set up an orphanage but I can't do so yet until I have enough money. I am a giver at heart and so I don't think my love of money is a bad thing. Neither do I think it is the root of evil.

i too believe that money is the root of all evil people are just so greedy and it is human nature to never be satified and always want more but in todays sad world you cannot live without money i dont really think it is money that people are greedy for it is what all they can get with the money but the strong urge and craving often overrules humans and causes us to get the money in "unearned" ways such as stealing or cheating and not working hard and earning their money
