volunteerism

No, i am not a memeber. but i always wanted to be . just if its to pick up garbage off the side of the road that makes our city look so trashy. i know there is a get together once a year to clean the garbage off the beaches but i think there should be more..Our city is Going down hill. all they want to do is spend money to put stupid ticket cameras so the cops dont have to do their job.. but they wont spend money to make the city look better.... smh,

I'm part of a volunteer group in school! It's a charity called 40 hour famine in which I have to sacrifice something like technology or food for 2 days in order to support children who have no food living in poor countries. I also collect money for the charity, asking people to sponsor me. I love volunteering, not only am I gaining some work experience but I feel good for helping people based on my free will with no payment. I also volunteered to help out in a facility with people with a disability and I learned a lot there and made new friends there too! Volunteering really is great!

Hi bagumbayan! I think that's a good project! I have always wanted to volunteer for a good cause but it's only in mind but not in practice. Kidding aside, if I have the chance and the perfect opportunity to do volunteer work, I will! I just don't get that opportunity here at work and in our town. Here at work we don't really organize volunteer work but we do activities that involve our employees working for a cause like mangrove tree planting and coastal clean-up. Of course, that's not really a volunteer work since employees are paid per diem, but at least it's for a cause. I always get amazed at those volunteers who work for Gawad Kalinga in building houses for the poor, those who do volunteer work in international organizations, it's really amazing. I wish I can have the chance to do that, too.

I think that people who volunteer are selfless because it means that they are giving their time to a charity for free, and aren't charging for their time. I am a fundraiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust at the moment, as I know several people who's lives are affected by the disease so I thought that it would be the best thing for me to be able to do at this moment in time. I was right, and have found it to be very rewarding which is just absolutely wonderful for me to be honest with you. I have raised almost $1000 for them now, and I am very proud of myself because of that.
