Hello myLotters!
As we know, nowadays almost every person has its own computer, its own access to internet. If not from home, you can visit a library or go to internet cafe and enjoy using internet.
There is a question now, how much time do you spend surfing on internet and what kind of webpages do you usualy visit?
Me and my friends were talking last week about internet addiction. What do you think about it? Do you think you are addicted too? How to prevent you child to get addicted?
Because in a lot of researches they say, that this is very dangerous addiction and it can be as hard as drinking or smoking.
Some information:
- Up to 30% South Koreans under 18, or about 2.4 million people, are at risk of Internet Addiction
- 10.6% China students are addicted to internet

zassc : True we are getting addicted to internet. You can at the way people like me post in mylot and other forums. But one thing is certain -- we should be able to manage without this also. Heaven will not fall down if we do not log on to internet. True internet is useful for working for another person whose face you do not see also.

I normally spend 2/3 hours per day on internet nowadays because I have nothing else to do. I cannot work in any place as a visitor. Once I go back to India may be I will log in for 1/2 hour to 1 hour per day.

I do drink and smoke occasionally and I'm not addicted to either. I am however 100 percent addicted to the computer lol. My mom was just telling me the other day, you're addicted to the computer! wow, tell me something I don't know, ha. I can't hardly get away from the computer for an hour. I am constantly trying to make money and trying to find new ways to actually make a half decent amount of money online so I can have something going for me at the moment. I'm not surprised how many people are addicted to the internet, I certainly am completely. We had about a half a week without power and I was going insane, I kept having to go to my mom's office to get internet. I never appreciated it more. I read one story once that a woman had her kid in a bathtub and he drowned because she was too busy on Facebook, or something like that, now that is scary.

I would say I am somewhat addicted to the internet and I have to keep myself in check. I used to game online and it was much worse back then spending most of my free time online on any given day. Now I am able to get other things done but I still get a bit sidetracked while I am online. Anymore I spend about 3 hours a day online. Some of that is money sites, email, fun sites, articles, doing research etc.. You just have to find balance. There are lots of activities I enjoy offline and I have to make time for those activities. If life is good outside of the internet you have a reason to pull yourself away from the activity.

Hello zassx
Yes its a problem to get the addiction of internet but it is also very much useful.Today every work is shifting on internet. In these it is not possible to keep away from internet. But we must make some constraints on the internet usage that we have to follow a time limit on doing chatting, social networking.Researching on internet for your study is different part than surfing internet. It must be follow by teenagers.Long time work can give us more physical problem too.

I usually spend about 5 hours surfing on the internet to look for some acadamic infomation. And I also watch some funny videos which is made by the guys in our ages. Some people just become famous through the internet. It's an interesting phenomenon that you can see people who make some unordinary video on the internet become a famous star.We all know Justin Bieber, the handsome teenage super star.He is the typical example about this.So we can tell that the internet do attract many teenages which is why they addicted in it.

I will spend around twelve hours per day using the internet, but this is mainly because I work online so I have to sit at my computer all of the day to be able to earn the money that I need in order to pay my bills and things like that. If I didn't do it for that length of time, then I just wouldn't be able to do the things that I like to do in my life, which would be a real shame to be honest with you. I don't waste all of my day on games though like a lot of people do, so I really don't feel as though I am wasting my time because of that.

I say im internet addict! Hehe.. But i think only these days. I have no job for my, i just graduated college and im waiting for my nursing license. I prefer surfing the net over going out. I do watch my favorite korean movies online. The moment i wake up till going to sleep im on my phone doing internet. Im using wifi connection so non-stop internet surfing. I think for me its ok just to relieve boredome, but to students internet addiction can be bad coz their studies might be affected. Its good to use internet only i think 30 mins to one hr per day but beyond that its isnt good.

I usually spend between 6 to 10 hours a day as most of the time I am online anyway and to spend idle time between work as I work home based, i surf and enjoy searching the web for news, entertainment and of course sometimes it would also involve researching needed information. I usually visit many websites a day. I think for minors, there is this feature wherein the parents or guardian can offer limits to the sites they visit especially those that contain sensitive materials as well as limitation to the number of hours they use the computer. Another way is also to have password where they will not be able to access the net without adult supervision or permission.

I spend too much time surfing. Around 5 hours is normal even in a busy schedule. But then this is used for some important tasks as well like mostly on a game I play to earn (anno) and then here on mylot.
As about addiction, I don't think am addicted because in the recent past, I had not opened computer for over a month. As about others being addicted, it is the responsibility of their parents to limit their access. Under 18, it is the guardian's responsibility of the child's welfare.
