Currently, I'm in the midst of lodging a report of a banking fraud whereby the ATM machine did not give the RIGHT amount of money from the amount withdrawed!
The amount of money that key-in was 500 but I only got 450 of cash money from the machine!
Does it ever happened to you????? Geez! Any advice?

Report it immediately to the ATM's bank. My experience is worse because I withdrawn 1000 and the ATM said 'sorry i cannot process your transaction' then when i did a balance inquiry, 1000 was deducted in my account. I reported it to the bank and they said they will make a reversal within a week. I got my money back in five days.

Oh my no it has not happened to me ever. You bring up a valid point as this is a machine and although humans too ca make a mistake so can a machine.
So I will start counting it right there at the atm station so that the camera can capture video taping of exactly what comes out. I figure this is the better route to take, because simply going inside to the bank and complaining it will be your word against a machine.

Hi Hardworking,
Actually the bank can tell if a person got shortchanged. The machines start out with a certain amount of cash. There is a record of all the withdrawals. If by chance the machine malfunctioned and shorted someone 50.00 then that 50.00 would still be in the machine. A person inside of the bank could verify and make things right. It's the same as if I give a person back change for a 20.00 rather than a 50.00. At night when I count my drawer, I would be 30.00 over and the person would get their money back. Of course, when dealing with humans there is more chance for scamming. The ATM should be easier to prove one way or another.

Hi sid!
Yes I'd imagine so that the bank can tell if it shorted a transaction, but my thought is that it will take a human to count what is there and or over and am sure they will not do so upon request immediately and ask us to await the closing of transactions and or the next business day. Since a human has to figure this out, I figure the camera is rolling the entire time I am standing there while the money comes out so that for me would be a back up. Call me skeptic but sadly not all humans today are honest anymore.

Hi HWG,
Long time no see! Weird things always happen! So, there's no excuse for money in the safe box too.
Negligence is the main reason here for the loss of the money from the ATM. Of course, some fraud case could have been done by the dishonest officers around.

I must confess I haven't used the ATM in such a long time! I have been going into the bank. I assume if you go into the bank and explain to a manager what happened to you they will fix it.

Hi there.
Sometimes, the old fashioned way is always the safest!

Hi Jacklintan,
I work in a store that has an ATM in it. This happens quite a lot and especially on the weekend. There is only a certain amount of money to dispense in these machines and often times they run out. A person will ask for 60.00 and only get 40.00. They panic and run to us for help. I have never so far seen a case where the 60.00 has been deducted from their account. The machine ran out of money. When they've gone back and checked their account they always find that only 40.00 was deducted even though they asked for 60.00. If that is not what happened to you then keep pushing the matter. Call the people that own the ATM. If the ATM is inside of a store then talk with the store owner. There has to be a paper trail somewhere. The ATM starts out with a certain amount of cash and there are records of all it's withdrawals. It has to balance. If it doesn't then either someone is playing games or there was a malfunction in the machine itself.

It's so true! People including myself DO get PANIC is the moeny they withdraw from the ATM machine is LESSER than what they have asked for!
Geez! I hope there are other ways to withdraw money efficiently.

I agree with the others. No, it has never happened to me. Since other banks charge a fee, I only go to my bank's ATM and mostly during banking hours. If the right amount were not dispensed, I would go directly into the bank and tell them. Now, after reading your discussion, I know to count my money before leaving the machine.

No it has never happened to me but I believe it can happen at time. After all it is just a machine so some mistakes can happen. I do really hope you get the rest of your money. Good luck friend.

So far it has not happened to me but I guess ATM errors can always happen because nothing in this world could be perfect. So it is always advisable to count the money before as soon as you have withdrawn so that if in case there have been some errors you can always report it to your bank and I believe that would be more than willing to give what is due to you.

Maybe your ATM is running out of money so they gave you less than it should have. i've experience this in the past and complaint to the bank bringing the receipt.

Hi.
It's true. We have our rights to complaint this matter to the banker involved.

I also experience that, i withdrew 1500 from the ATM machine but no cash so I reported it immediately to the bank because they deducted me already the amount . .then after 5 working days when I checked again the money was already there. .
