Hi! Whenever I stay on my computer for hours doing my internet stuff, I usually ended up with my eyes straining and my head is aching. Do you think computer can cause damage to our sight or can cause any health issues?

Staring at monitor too long, I think it is obviously may harm our eyes. And staying on computer too long, while we are only sitting all day, it may harm our health. So, yes, computer may harm your health, if you are using it too excessive. Take your time for rest every 6 hours for about 15 minutes. Rest your eyes and relaxed your body. Don't overdo it. Everything that is excessive would be harm for us

Hi It is the normal thing. When we see the computer constantly for long time then it is possible that our eye gets some problem. Even I feel headache many time when I use computer too much in a day. I usually just wash my eyes with cold water and that really feels good.

Washing the eyes with cold water? I wonder it can trigger or cause any damage to our eyes.

Yup. Staring at computer screens for too long has been known to spoil your vision. That's why it's recommended to always close your eyes or look at something distant after around 30 minutes or so of looking at the screen or after reading a book.

Me too. When I am at my computer for many hours, I tend to feel pain in my eyes and I would occasionally get headache. Using the computer too long without a break at regular intervals can indeed cause our vision to suffer. That's why it's gd to use a screen shield over the computer. For me, I try to take a break on and off - even tho' they are very short breaks, it's better than not taking a break at all - and that helps prevent overstraining of my eyes. I also try to wear my specs when I am doing my work on the computer (even tho' I can see without any specs). I don't think using the computer can cause any health problems - at least not in the short-term.

Actually asked my eye doctor this question and got yes... but it depends also on eye strain. Other factors are our over all health and even something like how tired we are relating to how much we stress our eyes. Now, keep in mind so are a lot of other things dangerous, the sun, the tv (for now), even pollution.

Yes, it can damage our vision. I stay on my computer for more than fifteen hours a day. And now, my vision is blurred. I tried to completely stop using the computer for whole 7 whole days, and my vision drastically improved. But I can never do that again because of my job. I recommend getting an eyeglass that protects you from too much radiation. I guess it's called anti-glare eye glasses. But I'm not sure if it's effective. I haven't tried it :P

If you do not take any precaution your eyesight will eventually deteriorates. Steps you can take include 1) Having a lower brightness and contrast levels. 2) Focusing on distant objects at regular intervals. 3) Use glasses with ultraviolet protection.
