I had a professor when I was in college. He's an old professor already and was a former journalist and columnist of a famous magazine and newspaper. He asked us to write an article in Filipino about a certain topic. I forgot the topic already since it was way back in 2004 when I was in first year college. That serve as our final project already to him. Then few days before our semester break, he finally give our class cards. He gave me a score of flat 1 which is the highest grade that you can achieve. He gave me my class card and smiled at me and said "You did a very good job". I was happy because of the grade and because of his comments. The next day, one of our professor told us that he passed away already due to heart attack. I was extremely sad of what happened and I won't forget him for the rest of my life.

I had some pretty good profs in college (some pretty so-so ones too.) My favorite was Dr. Hahn. He was in WWII flying missions out of North Africa and once was part of a plane that ditched over the Mediterranean... The rest of the crew had bailed after it was shot, except him and the pilot. They had almost made it to North Africa and were able to bail out with a small inflatable and were picked up - the rest of the crew were fine, by that time the part of Italy they bailed out was in Allied hands. Then he was stationed in Japan after the occupation... He was a really good history teacher and the classes I took from him were History of the Middle and Near East and History of the Far East. I took the latter on a summer session. He picked up the finals and told us these were the last finals he was ever going to grade - he was retiring.

see, I liked history, I took 10 courses in college, if I had a foreign language I could've had a double major.

History is quite a boring class. But if your teacher is like that, history will be on a different level. There are some teachers that really inspires students. I think he's one of them.

Though your professor is physically is not here, you had remembered him today through this discussion. What could be a greater tribute to a worthy personality like your professor.? Quite noble of you.

He is a perfect example of a person with great humility. He said that he stopped working as an editor with high salary because he just want to teach students. An old guy with pure heart and a passion for teaching.

When teachers say such things, somehow you tend to believe it. I have a teacher as well who says that our national hero is a gay. He stated some facts and proofs. Somehow I feel like I believe in him already. But of course I don't know if it is really true.

Sad that this professor is gone. Sounds like he had a very interesting life though and lived it his way. You should be very proud of your work and the score he gave you. He has been around in the journalistic world for year and to tell you that you did such a good job should prove to you that you have what it takes.

The magazine that I'm referring to is one of the oldest and first released magazine in the Philippines. He said he already earned a lot of money there. But he still chooses to teach Filipino class to share his experiences and knowledge to us.

The news is really sad because he is a very good professor. But somehow I'm glad that he was able to give me good grades before he left this world. He was a very humble professor even though he has a lot of achievements.

I met a person like that already. Continuously closing one eye involuntarily. I think its a muscle problem in the eyes. It usually happen if the eyes are too tired.

My most unforgettable teacher was my student teacher back in the fifth grade. I was a really shy girl back then, but she managed to connect with me. I don't know what it was about her that I really liked. Up to this day, we still keep in touch.

The teacher that I had that still lives on strongly in my memory is actually my first grade teacher that I had in the 1986-1987 school years. She was a single woman and loved all of her students like they were her own children, she would bring us back gifts from her trips when she went on mission trips. In addition to that, the reason that she was so important to me was the fact that she was the one that recognized that I was dyslexic and got me the help that I needed so that I would be able to succeed in school.

I think he's happy now. He's very happy teaching students and that alone will give him satisfaction. Very humble of him to resigned from a high paying job and just teach to share his knowledge.

I won't forget my english teacher in senior high school. She had very high standards. Most of my classmates got only b's but I had many a's.Not because she was bias, but because she knew I was determined to get high grades.Because I love her my grades got very very high.Maybe it is true that the teacher affects the performance of students.
