What is laughing gas?

I have heard that there is some gas in chemistry world, which is laughing gas. What does this mean? Will this gas makes us to laugh?
If so, then how this gas works in our body, to induce laugh?

Nitrous oxide(N2O) is normally called as laughing gas.It won't make you laugh.dentist uses laughing gas as anesthetic so that patient won't feel the pain and he will feel relax and comfortable.
