Education is considered to be one of the most precious wealth that parents can bequeath to their children. It is an obligation coupled with responsibility and love for their children. aside from the material wealth that we can inherit from our parents education is one of the most important. Having a good education can prepare us face our future with certainty. we may not become rich by simply having it but it is our means to enrich ourselves emotionally, psychologically, spiritually and materially. It is a kind of wealth that wherever we go, we bring it along with us.
As stipulated in the constitution , education is a basic right of every citizen and that the government has the responsibility to make it available to everybody. So while we have the chance to study and earn our degrees, we should not waste our time and chances to have it for not all are privileged to have it especially in this moment of financial crisis. While we have it, we should treasure it and make the most of it, not just for ourselves but for our families and our country as well.

Yes, I believe so, it is a precious wealth that can't be stolen. This is the most secured of all our wealth because no one else have access to it but the only person who holds it. This is the very reason why our parents send us to school and work hard to be able to give us the highest education ever. Indeed those who are given the chance to get education should never waste this opportunity.

hi:)
yes that's true, that's what my parents always told us, that money and any material things can be taken from us but only education will remain and if we have that we can survive even when they're gone.
this is a good post janevi.

While I agree that an education is extremely important and once you learn something no one can take it away from you. I was told by a wise Jewish man that one of the reasons Jewish people are resented is that they have an education and that education has training for a job, usually one that requires very little in terms of physical possessions and is easily transferable form one country to another. For Example Medicine, Law, Architect, Finance to name a few. These career fields are very mobile and if they were forced to move on short notice they could easily set up in another country or community. To the Jewish parents seeing that their children have a good education is very important. You also see this feeling on the part of parents in third world countries and they will make great sacrifices to see that their children get an education and not just in school but also in Music and Languages.
It is unfortunate that many young people take their education for granted and don't see it true value.
By the way there is not a Constitutional right to an education in the US Constitution. It is one of the powers not given the Federal Government nor denied the States so it becomes a State power.
"Amendment 10 - Powers of the States and People. Ratified 12/15/1791. Note
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

Nevertheless, the federal governement is trying to control it, rather than leaving it to the states, by giving the states federal money for certain programs.

My education brought me into early contact with French language and culture, through my first school, a French school in London. Consequently I was able to read classic of French literature in the original, and enjoy culture from the perspective of a fluent French spaker, I'm very grateful for that, and I've bcome a Francophile in consequence.

Knowledge lies inside, no one can take it from us :) I agree with you :).
But while degree and school-based education is important, there's another important wealth that parents can give: a lesson about manner and life.
It is also precious and can't be steal.
Degree alone isn't a complete wealth. We still need that other wealth: our manner and attitude
.

While knowledge is subject or what you call' lies inside' it still needs to be lived/ decoded or put into action. Education is not limited within the four walls of the classroom. It is expansive, broad and unlimitless. Our is the first venue where we learn values that would enable us to face the challenges outside our home. These values prepare us in our integration into the world ; school, church, offices, etc where we put into action the 'things' we learn from our home. Proper education is imbued with values that can make a person 'rich' in all aspects of his being. :-)

It is so sad that some kids on our country don't share your views. Some of them don't want to finish their schooling anymore. They rather cut classes and use social networking and chat to meet with foreigners in hopes of better living but some of them end up getting exploited/abused.

Yes, education is indeed crucial and important in life. Nowadays, without knowledge and learning, it would be quite difficult to land a job and of course earn for a living. That is why as much as possible, I always do my best to provide my child with a good education so that when he grows up, he will have a great asset in life that cannot be taken away. There are those that are born rich and sad to note even if they can afford it, do not concentrate in schooling knowing that their parents have the money. But what if life will turn around? What if we no longer have the parents or the money.. remember they go away. But with good education you will always have the tool to survive and make a living and that is something that no one can take away.

Companies would love to hire people with dedication, discipline, honest, innovative and willing to work an'extra mile' as the need arises for these qualities could produce quality output. Graduating for a reputable school is a factor to consider by the employers.

So, I couldn't agree with you more, education definitely important to all of us.

Proper education prepares us to mix and mingle in the world. Value-laden education equipped a person to become globally competitive and to improve his life in the future. It is truly important because it can enables a person to think of the means and ways to improve himself, his community and contribute to the nation building.:-)

I'm not sure this is as true in the United States as it used to be. Now you can have a college degree and still not be able to find a job, and you might even have trouble taking a job lower than what you've been educated for because they will say you are overqualified and might leave if a job in your field becomes available. There are some parents now who believe the universities are no longer giving students a good education as much as they are trying to indoctrinate them. Some of these parents offer their children the choice of a college education or the money to start a business of their own if they have the skills and a plan. We know many students who have chosen to start a business first and then go to school more later when they understand why they need the extra education.

Here in our country , at least our government is making it as a priority though there is no enough budget allocation for state universities but we have free education for elementary and high school in government-run schools. This over qualification and underemployment is very real here in our country too. Thousands of college graduates are unemployed or working not in their field of specialization. A college degree is not a guarantee to land a job in the field where one is prepared but at least, he can apply for another work even if it is not according to her professional preparation.
In cases of those who cannot afford to go to college because it is expensive, the government has this technical programs offered through the technical skills and development authority agency that is integrated in the different colleges, universities and technical institutions all over the country. Thereby addressing the need for education of its citizenry.
In as much as parents would really like their children to finish a degree of their choice, or give them the option to start their own business, they still give their assurance of support if their children want to study at the same time. This is one good thing in our culture. Parents still support their children even if they are beyond the age of 18 or 21 as long as the children would like to pursue a career for their future. But this also has its own drawback. Children tend to be dependent on their parents when in fact they should already be on their own.

What is education? How important is it to visit school to go to high school or even university? In some years only the very rich people are able to study in many western countries, in much other countries this is already the case. Even basic school is not possible for everyone. Aside of the part that there are countries where basic schools are on a very very low level.
You can study for years but what if you never get a job? Your study will be useless, even with everything you know you will feel lonesome and useless, since you are no part of the productive people around you.
So your educationn/knowledge is not wealth at all but a burden.
It's useless.
At this moment with bad economy in so many countries (and the end is not near) you may ask if it does make any sence to study. Those who are intelligent will find all the info they want themselves. Which is not the case with a job. Nobody loves to hire you if you have no experiences at all and only a lot of diploms to show.
Education is also a burden since the smarter you are the more you think things over and the more worries you have and the more stress you have.
My man has less education, but he knows how to live, to discuss, it's life himself that is teaching him how or what and in many ways it's more pratical as years of study at high school and university. Also he has way less stress and sorrows as I have. As he is always saying: I am just a simple man.

i agree, education cannot be stolen even if you're abused or what, the time something register on your brain it cannot be removed. Having amnesia or forgetting something is just a mere condition when your brain cannot find the proper information, when forgetting somethings its more like 'cannot find please wait...' than 'cannot find completely'

An educated person knows his rights and privileges, his duties and responsibilities. While education remains to be lived by the person who acquired it, he has to apply it in daily life, in his transactions and interactions with people. Knowing his full rights and duties, he should not allow anyone to abuse him. Abuse can happen only if the person allows himself to be.

I agree. Education is the greatest gift we can receive from our parents. Our future depends on that. So we need to study really hard if we want to be successful in life.

"Education" today that is offered in public schools and colleges is largely a moral and academic waste.
Public school teachers can barely read, write, and spell themselves. Children are politically indoctrinated and warehoused.
A mind is a terrible thing to waste in today's public schools.
The government is intent on dumbing down our children and is doing an excellent job of that.
Yes, education is a "precious wealth", but it has been stolen. It also in no way enriches children "emotionally, psychologically, or spiritually". I have been in the field of education for over 40 years and have witnessed bullying and intimidation on the part of teachers as well as students, total disrespect of our innocent children, and the only "material" enrichment goes to teachers.
Homeschooling is the only way to protect and educate any child.
Our children are held hostage by greedy teachers and their unions; this is the reality.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-piPkgAUo0w
Take a look at the kind of scum children are turned over to. It's beyond lack of good character.
http://video.search.yahoo.com/search/video?p=teachers+union+gone+wild
Research some of John Taylor Gatto's or other advocates of homeschooling's work.
You will see how your children are being hurt. Gatto, himself, said, "I no longer want to hurt children".
I came to the same conclusions. Understand that the few really good teachers cannot work within such a corrupt system.

The government is not interested in you or your children, just in controlling you and using you.
