Why, Oh, Why!

Do you respond with a simple "Yes." or "No." to someone's discussion? Do you comment with a simple "Me too!", "Ok.", "Thanks." to someone's response? If you do... why, oh, why! Why do you think this is okay? Why do you think this is quality? Why do you think you will earn for this? It's NOT! Please, please listen to what myLot tells us! MyLot tells us: *To please make sure we give our best effort to respond with quality responses. *Not to post "Me too!" messages. Instead, add something of substance to the conversation. *Not to thank everyone that responds or comments on your discussion. This will NOT increase your earnings! *Short responses like "ok." or "no." will be deleted, and therefore you will not earn from them. MyLot tells us these things to help us! We should do our best to listen to things that myLot tells us, as they are very important in the myLot community.

ACtually, I won't join a discussion that can be answered with yes or no because it's against the terms and could very well be deleted.

They also say, every time we type a topic, response or comment: "Please be as descriptive as possible." I guess some people here still think that they earn for 'posting' and that there is no need to go further. They don't realise that myLot is for discussions and that we should do all that we can to further the topic. The sad thing is that those who write only short, nonsensical phrases are then the ones who complain that their earnings are low and that myLot is not worth their tiem

Yes, mysd, you are right. Thanks for adding that! Yes, I have noticed that many of the ones who complain about the earnings are the ones who are not listening to what myLot tells us.

They are also the ones that can't be bothered to read all the comments in a back and forth chain (like this one will proabably become ) and don't realise that they could join in and add their say too, and see their earnings increase for doing so. Just because their number doesn't increase for everything that they type, they seem to think they don't earn - without realising that the numbers are not related to our earnings.

I agree mysd! Lately, I have been jumping into random back and forth banter that I come across. It's really fun! Oh, and remember when all I could talk about was getting to 200 so I could post smileys? Well, I don't even pay attention to that number anymore! Hi khare1005, glad you joined in!

Me too, ok, yes, or no is acceptable provided we explain our response further. That way, not only we are giving a complete idea of the topic but also we earn more. When we enter into discussions or sites we should always respect their rules and regulation. It will make a better environment for all of us.

You are right, meticulo. Of course we are allowed to post these words, but we should also add more to the post than just those words.

Though this has not to date applied to me, I will answer it anyways. No I do not think a simple yes and or not is quality and to date I have yet to respond to any discussions in this manner. In fact I am a novel writer when it comes to responding to discussions, if I find that I am leaving a sentence and or two then it is time for me to log off for the moment and or day. Yes it is best to be descriptive as possible as that is what myLot asks, and expects us to do, besides I am not sure that offline I have ever just responded to a yes or not to all my conversations.

Yes, HWG, you have always been one to type a lot in your discussions/comments. I think it is good, though. You always provide great, detailed, helpful information to everyone!

hello, Actually, mylot has a reason why they are doing that. right? because for me it is really nice if you add some of your opinion to the discussion and not just say "ok or no and yes". It is much better if we elaborate or we explain our thought to others. In a short answer like that do you think we can answer back? haha.

Hi there! I completely agree with you. People can always add more detail or their opinions to their responses, not just a yes or no.

hi A ngelee for one thing in order for other my lotters to know this information first they must go to the information and actually read it., asking all of us to repeat it to them day after day after day gets old for some of us. I say to all newcomers here go read all the my lot information as its the way to know how to use mylot correctly and to enjoy being here making discussions and responding to them, making friends. just read the guidelines and rules of discussions and frequently asked questions. you will be glad you did.Yes is a great discussion and if new users will read it and remember it this will help them greatly in all ways to earn ,to learn, to share and care and have fun here and make a lot of friends here too;

I agree Hatley. Reading the terms, guidelines, and FAQ here on myLot can assure they know what to do, and what not to do. That way, they are not mistakenly violating terms or guidelines when they participate. Also, reading those pages will help members get a better understanding of myLot and how it works.

hehehe, couldn't resist that! Simple responses like that are usually because the discussion is phrased badly - the only possible answers are "Yes" or "No" unless you decide to go into detail. Well-phrased discussions prompt a bigger response.

If a discussion is nothing more than a simple yes or no question, I will usually not respond as they are violating the guidelines. Unless I am feeling nice, and just want to help, knowing I will not earn if it gets deleted. However, if there is more too it, even if it's phrased badly, I will respond and add as much information and detail as I can.

Hi sweetie. That's a very nasty way to respond to someone's discussion. You can thank the person after you have responded, but not just, yes, no, thank you and whatnot.

So far I do not think I have done that. If it really calls for a "yes" or "no" answer, I rather forgo the discussion. Otherwise, I might turn around and twist the discussion into an open topic back to the lotter, and hopefully if other lotters read it, then they might add to the discussion. How would you do it, Angelee?

That is how I feel as well. I usually do not respond to a simple yes/no questions as they are guideline violations and will be deleted eventually. However, I do reply to discussions that may ask a yes/no question if there is more to it, like if they ask of more than just that.

You are so correct. My 'why' question would be why doesn't everyone read the rules before posting. I see this over and over and I usually skip the discussions that I am sure will be deleted..I do give credit to those who try to tell the posters to read the rules because their discussion will be deleted. I don't get it...if someone joins they need to READ THE RULES

@stary1: I agree. New users really should read the terms, guidelines/rules, and FAQ of ANY site before participating. That way, they will be sure not to violate any terms, or break any rules. And, they will have a better understanding of how the site works. @PPE: You should know better young man! Shame on you!

thank you for your valuable information. as i think mylot is the best site that will give best information to all our doubts. so if we reply like yes or no there are more social networking sites are available for that. so it is the place for giving our valuable opinions.

Angelee I agree with your post and although I only been on this site and even at my age know everything, I have learn even more by reading the responses to my posts fully. Considering so many contributors come from the Philippines, China and India the English used is very good. I am trying to build up some knowledge of the areas that others come from.

It all depends on how the op structured his/her post. There are instances where the discussion doesn't warrant a long and detailed response. I usually have at least few lines to put my points across and not few words just for the sake of responding.

I do not like it when members post just for the sake of responding to earn. It's not fun that way. MyLot is really fun and addicting if you use it the right way, and just discuss!

That is good! That is the right way to do it. If you are going to say yes or no, you should always add more too it such as an explanation or opinion.

I have noticed that once in a while some members just simply response with a yes, no, thanks or I don't know. I am one of those who personally like to elaborate on my responses and put some effort in them. I have noticed that the more you elaborate on your responses the better your earnings are. I love reading the responses I get from my discussions so just the way I like to get responses and read them I would expect that others enjoy the same. You are definitely right, we should do our best to listen/read with other fellow mylotters have to tell us. That is the whole point of this community and that is one of the reasons I joined and enjoy mylot.

I would feel like you didn't put forth much effort. And, I would not know what to respond with. I agree with you. If you add more than just a simple yes, no, me too, I agree, etc... it makes the respond much better.
