Cellphone Harassment?

My friend just texted me that she felt horrible and terrified from receiving text messages from an anonymous sender just now. Nasty messages like as if the sender wanted to do something bad to her. My friend was shocked upon receiving the message yet not responded so to make the sender think that she's not receiving any of its salacious messages. If you were the one who received such text messages, what will you do?

I would go to my service provider and request a printout of the messages that I have received then have the incident reported to the police and have the owner of the number sending messages traced.

Can we do that ur4mae, if the phone is a prepaid one?

Prepaid ones are hard to trace especially if it's not active anymore, I think.

do you mean some kind of stalker? you can really prevent that, your friend might have some admirer because she is pretty, that's normal, having a stalker of something like that. Just dont respond on the text messages no matter what.

We don't know if it's a stalker or what. It's my friend's first time to receive such kind of text message.

ronadelle, I believe your friend should go to the police and have this reported especially when the messages are life threatening. I am sure the police would then have every authority to approach your friend's mobile service provider to trace this perpetrator who is harassing her. There's really no other choice and I do not think any one should treat this lightly because you just might not know if this is serious or not. So, be safe and take care.

ronadelle, As I've said, I believe the law enforcements will take your friend's harassment when the texts have any thing that might be life threatening or has some form of criminal intent. Tell her to approach the police and let them determine it for her if the caller needs to be reprimanded or arrested. I'd rather that she start doing this than adopt a laid-back attitude and hope for the best i.e. it will stop. Just don't assume things when it is one's life we are talking here.

She texted me again that the guy sent a message yesterday. Just don't know what were the text all about. I told her to be on guard and vigilant enough. She lives alone and I hope that she's always okay.

Maybe its a wrong send or someone is trying to scare her or making fun of her. I had same experience with my cousin who changed number and she send me scary text messages and even did miss calls. I just ignore it and never response and it goes for 2 days. Maybe when she get's tired and realized that she gains nothing she revealed herself and I really want to kill her. Good thing she is far from me

I really hope so too that it's just a prank. But I doubt though, because relatives won't ever do that since she is a pastor. I really think that's someone who likes her. She still single that's why, I guess.

If I would receive such messages constantly finally I would report it to the police. There is plenty crazy people up there and you have no idea to what such people are capable of.
