Not-So-Worthwhile Clients

Is there such a thing as not so worthwhile clients? What i mean is that is it really worth serving demanding clients when they pay your fees at a delayed fashion? There are times that the administrative work and even expense to serve a client doesnt seem to be worth it. Were there times that you had to drop a client because you felt that they are not worth it?

I have to admit this happens to me all the time. I have to keep my hourly rates at a reasonable level, there are only 24 hours in a day, so if I don't make enough per hour, it's not worth it, in the end. It happens because the clients have very small orders, which still take a lot of time to prepare and deliver; or because we have communication problems, or because they don't know what they want and keep changing everything in the middle of a project... you can't keep them all, and I think it's fair to let them find a contractor who can do the job right for them. Normally I don't drop a client in the middle of a job, but there were times when I had to tell them it would be the last time working together.
