Some car driver get road rage when there is a long line of cars in front and progress is slow. Many of these people shout, scream, do something dangerous or make a serious mistake that harms someone else on the road. When such a person takes a wrong road he or she will get angry instead of staying calm and trying to get back on track.
Why do some people suffer road rage?
Is there anything that could change a stressed drivers attitude?
Have you ever witnessed road rage happening?

I am not really sure why some people get road rage really bad - I do get a little angry when people don't thank you when you let them go or don't indicate and then brake suddenly but, if I go the wrong way I just come back around and am not too stressed by those kind of things!

Although I don't do anything dangerous (I think), I too experience road rage. For me, it's because I like to plan and allot time for everything I do. I only allot a certain time for car travel. And when I get stuck and exceed my alloted time, which is already generous, I get frustrated. Which becomes road rage.
I've found myself screaming at myself or other drivers when I get frustrated like this.

This is a very good question, and if anyone can find a reason and cure, please tell me quick.
I suffer from sever clinical depression and my med's help keep me calm most of the time, but when I am driving and some idiot can not drive at least the speed limit and holds up the traffic,I try to get past them, but many times there is no way of changing lanes,so yes,I do get rage, and as soon as I am able to pass them,I do,and let them know how I feel about their driving in no pleasant manner,
If they laugh or finger me,I will stop and have a word with them.
For those that don't care for speed, stay out of the right hand lane(North America),
this lane is for fast traffic, not slow idiots.
Thank you.

I have witnessed road rage a few times. Adelaide is a city of over 1 million people, and our public transport system is not that great. Hence, people rely on driving, long distances in peak hours.
I think road rage ocurs for a combination of reasons. Frustration at being late for work , and perceiving that is another drivers fault; car accidnents that close multiple line roads, and hence, people get angry; people who simply have anger problems. Then you get the people who think they know all the rules, and have the right to have a go at other drivers.
When someone gives me the finger, I give it back... which they don't like.
It is getting worse.

Normally, tailgaters get me upset. So I pull off the road. I had one person in a huge car so close that I was terrified to pull off. There was no way for the person to even see my taillight if I did put my signal light on.
People who try to kill me tick me off. We have many who cut you off and give you no time to even break here. I think some of them have road rage, but when they do that stuff, it often beomes contageous.

I think some people suffer from road rage because they have this sense of entitlement or "me first" attitude on the road. This is especially true for instance when you have to merge from two lanes into one, and drivers refuse to let you in. You have to practically force your way in. Another instance is when you're sitting at a red light and it turns green, but you don't move fast enough and they honk the horn. I think people need to be more patient and tolerant when driving.

Hi there Maximax 8!
I think that sometimes, it's because the drivers are already stressed out like you mentioned and sometimes, maybe it's just the personality of those drivers.

To be honest, I do get this sometime. But I really don't freak it out that I get into trouble. I only murmur some words of frustration and anger at times when I am driving. I guess it is human nature to get stressed out and burst their emotions at times. And this is quite often in busy driving streets. It really is hard to control one's temper and emotions especially if you are thinking about something stressful, in a hurry or simply pressured at the time. I think road rage roots from the state of mind of a person. One can't seem to control the road rage emotions if they are already in a vulnerable state. The rudeness and lack of discipline in the road of the other drivers tend to add up to the stress and eventually bursts the bubble of emotions and anger of the case driver. Road rage, I think, can be eliminated by having a healthy mind and a stress free life. I think that this is a case for everyday life, not only while driving. Just my two cents.

ha i have terrable road rage i make good use of my horn and middle finger my mom grandmother and sister sometimes hide their face when they are riding in the car with me they are so embarrased i think the only way to change a drivers attitude that has road rage is to get all the drivers that make us mad out of the way my dad had slight road rage when he was younger (i think he had it because he is a fireman and was used to driving like he was going to an emergency) and i think after riding in the car with him for so long it rubbed off on me but its just a part of who i am and i wouldnt change it
