Hi MyLotter, I think i might have depression. I don't really know whether this is true or not. But I sometimes feel I might have it. I get angry and irritated very very often. I wasn't like this in the past. Minor things would now piss me off and I cry very often too. Is this a sign? I started thinking of this some 2-3 months ago. I think i face too much stress from various factors and the largest one comes from my relationship with my parents VS my relationship with my boyfriend. Since the start of this year, I moved back to stay with my parents (had moved out to stay with my boyfriend for the past 3 years). And thinking of it, it was then that i started getting irritated and could't control my emotions. My parents dislike my boyfriend to the very extreme and have made it clear that they will never accept him (we are not together for close to 3 years). I think i face role conflict in this case and it's getting really unbearable. Sometimes i just feel that no body cares about me. Coupled together with the daily stresses of school work, exam, earning money. It's really to take its toll on me. I wonder how long i can stand straight before one day i really succumb.

I am not sure if this will apply, but may I share it anyway ... There is a saying there is a time for everything under the sun ... a time to be happy and a time to be sad, a time to be energetic and a time to be tired ... etc. And it is all well ... What do you think?

Yes. A time for everything in life. It's good if we are able to balance all of these. However, sometimes it's just not so easy to set aside time for everything. We might set the time aside for doing A, but our heat might not abide!

ruperto That is such a beautiful saying from the bible (and was made into a song) .. To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

Yes, I can understand that it is a very frustrating situation. Yet, you have to try and be calm about it. One suggestion I have is practise meditation, regularly, say starting with half-an-hour per day, at any time of the day convenient for you. That will help to get relieved of the stresses and calm your mind. And, that will also relieve your mind of depression if you are feeling that. Best wishes to you !

You should take time to relax first. Maybe a day or two will do. Try to have fun and don't think of any problem you have. Too much stress can really do you harm physically and mentally. Also, it would be helpful if you seek help from your family or close friends. Just share your problems to them. Let it out. Listen to them and maybe you can gather some good advices and of course support from them. Stay well and remember to relax. shadow41

I am sorry you have this emotional confict. I don't really know if it is true depression or not but it doesn't matter what you label it, it still hurts. Most people do feel very emotional when it comes to their parents. We all want parental approval and if not total approval at least acceptance. When we don't have that, even if we feel/know our parents are wrong, we still react emotionally disappointed and down. That approval just seems to be part of our DNA. I would just keep trying to show your parents you are happy with this person and in time they might come around. Don't argue or fight with them over it, just try to love them into accepting him. I wish you only happiness
