Yesterday Spring started in my part of the parnet with a beautiful weather. The zuchinni are doing fine (will post a picture in "gardening" later) and I and too hot with the knitted caps I made for Winter. Now it is the time for scarves and turbans and I discovered a site from the American Cancer Society that sells awesome things to cover the bald head.
I found bangs and a cap with velcro to place the bangs. I also saw a nice scarf looking cap for spring and lots of ideas for Summer. I bought a pair of bangs, a cap and a scarf, hoping to make a more of different colors with the same pattern?
Do you buy something nice and easy to do, and make more of the same following the pattern?

I am not talented enough to make nice things like that myself unfortunately! How lucky you found those nice caps and scarfs and the fact that you make some yourself is a double bonus! I think you should focus on making these for yourself and for others if you enjoy it, it may help during your difficult treatment, in fact you could even sell some! I pray that the chemo won’t be too hard on you and that your body is healing as we speak...

Chemo hasn´t been that hard, but it is yet to know if it will work. As the tests will be done in 2 or 3 weeks more, I decided to postpone my worries. As for making scarves for others, I don´t know how to sell anything. So I´m taking advantage of Spring the most I can and tend to my garden.

I have done that before. It makes it easier than just trying to make something without any example to follow. The caps that you are making sound pretty neat. I hope they find some good homes!!
I am looking forward to being able to make blankets again now that summer is finally drawing to a close here! So it sounds like we are somewhat trading places! My summer crafts have already been put away since I went back to school, but I am counting down until break. I have a couple of baby blankets I want to make!!

I´m making most of the caps and scarves for myself. I lost my hair with chemotherapy and will not end it for at least2 and a half months. So I have been trying to make nice hats and caps to wear in Winter and now I need something for a warmer season. I don´t know how or where to sell anything I have so I end up by giving away things. You have given me an idea, specially since I´m using my vacation money to cover my scalp

I hadnt realized they were for you, sorry. Thats awesome that you are able to make them, because that kind of stuff can definitely get expensive quickly!
Hope you are able to sell some and recover some of that vacation money!!

I don´t have much energy left to do scarves for someone else. Besides I prefer gardening now that Spring has started here. Tending my vegetable plot (a very tiny one) has become something important now because the doctor will only let me eat raw veggies from my garden where i know that I don´t use pesticides. The zuchinni are showing their first beautiful leaves and I talk to them every day,
I´m also making orange-carrot jam before oranges get more expensive. I love that jam! The rest of the day I´m exhausted and hating myself for that.

Dear Jo,
Everyone has different talents. I am able to make a patters from something already made but I can tell you noone ever told me ever not even my own mother that I was a sweet girl. In fact, her words up to now are that I am a very difficult girl.
Fortunatly there are people in the world who put up with my being a little bit crazy and even like it. Those as my real family and the people who have most helped me now with my cancer. I think in part it is because they are kind of nuts themselves.
I never was able to comb my hair, let alone do something better with it. Its just an example.

I am happy for you my friend for having that artistic side of you. I envy people like you for being good at doing crafts, because i myself doesn't have any artistic touch in me.
Yes, i can do some simple arranging of our furnitures but nothing more than fancy.

I have an artistic side, but not doing scarves. I know how to sew and knitt and know other crafts but I do them only when I have to. My artistic side is with language. I´m a writer in my native language.
But as sewing goes, I have done nice things such as making new covers for my terrace furniture a few years ago. I made them by using the old covers as patters for the new ones

Yuo can´t imagine how proud I was when I made them! And it costed me almost nothing because I even saved the velcro from the old covers.

I'm very happy for you friend that despite what you are going through, you still have time to do crafts which is really a fun thing and helps get our minds off a lot of things,You are really a strong person who can find joy in almost every thing. I wish I had time so I can return to painting, I really have a lot of subjects about nature on my mind but just can't seem to find time, perhaps it would get my mind off too from this looming another financial crisis and would have something to give away this Christmas

Don´t let the artistic part of you die away, friend. It helps a lot on rainy days. I know money is needed to leave, but we must have a space for us. I have yet to know if my cancer is just bad or bad-bad. It is not better than that, apparently. But I am thinking of beautiful scarves because that´s near future and talking about vacations in January as a fact when I don´t know is that will happen. Paint now. We only have the present. Carpe diem!
