Have you ever had this experience of being under the governance of a person who does not have what it takes to be a supervisor?
I've been employed for 5 years now and had been transferred to different supervisors. I didn't bother to apply for such position because I avoid getting caught in office politics. I like to lie low and have a life of my own. Things are OK and I can still fathom the office life not until this year when I was sent back to my old department and was placed under the supervision of this person.
I'm not a very choosy person because I know how to get along with any kind of person. I can tolerate even the vilest person. However when I see unfair practice especially in the place of work, a work like ours that is full of stress, I feel like I've reach my level of tolerance.
Let me just tell you why he sucks bigtime. First of, he got a lot of favorites. Our workload doubles because he calls his favorite employees and chat for half the day, while we do all work. Second, if your not in the list of his favorites, even the slightest mistake you make, he'll sensationalize it. he'll scold you in public and humiliate you. Worst is, his favorites get the credits of our work.
How'd you deal with such unfairness and injustice. I hope I can stand it till next year. After this year, I'm out of here!

I had a female boss that is very renowned for making her office staff cry and humiliate and degrade. She is more like of owner of the company than the real owner. Although she really is good in marketing and she lifts the company up but her attitude is very bad. Almost everyday we pray that she will have a meeting or out of town so that she will not be at the office, we pray before we come to her office. That's how bad she is and I come to a point that I resigned, not because we had a major fight but because another boss open his door for me and I don't think my previous female boss will change. She will never ever change so I choose to get her out of my life. It's up to you if you want to live your life with your supervisor, you always have an option.
I don't know why I stand my boss for almost 3 years, but I guess you just have to do your job and ignore his/her reprimand. It's very hard to do but believe me, you can do it. I am trying not to pity my self and be a pathetic one to prevent from crying from her degrade words and reprimand. That's the key if you want to stay with a horrifying nonsense boss.

We're not in speaking terms right now. I try not to look at his way and as much possible I do my job good so that he'll not look in my way. I can't even stand his double faced smile.

That's bad, I just can't understand why managers and supervisor act that way that they think they are the owner of the company, such unprofessional.

Favoritism is one sickness that could hardy be eliminated. In all as[ects of life, we find this. And it hurts if you're not the favorite. It demoralizes every worker. It makes one never motivated to exert his effort to the full because he believes it will not be noticed. One more thing, if he does wrong, it will make a big deal. If he does right, it is not recognized.

I too have had my share of bosses who suck. For myself I’ve had problems primarily with women bosses who for some unknown reason have taken a dislike to me and decided to make my life as difficult as possible! These days I work for myself at home and although I don’t earn very much I am so much happier! My husband is having boss issues at present and unfortunately he has no other choice at the moment but endure. You have the right idea, I think, to withstand it for now and get out as soon as possible and I hope it works out for you...

I have no choice but endure him ever minute of my waking life while I'm still here in my job. I can stand the stressful job, irate callers, and a lot of workloads for as long as we are equally experiencing it. I hope I find a better job after this.

office politics suck big time. i think it is present anywhere, even in the largest of companies, and probably much worse.
i deal mostly with situations like this by talking directly to the superior bringing facts and true scenarios. if you plan to leave, i suggest you tell him what you feel about the whole thing. during the discussion, stay calm and maintain resolve. let him feel that you are serious about the matter. no need to raise your voice.

I tried but no luck. He even tells something bad about me behind my back afterwards. Really unprofessional. I will raise that to the HR when I have my exit interview.

I also been transferred to different supervisors before. I already adjusted to their mood swings and favoritism. However this new supervisor that we had before is surprisingly irritating than the rest of supervisors who handle us. Since she's new, we thought that she will be nicer and far more sensitive than the tenured ones but we got it all wrong. I was sick one day, I called her and I told her I need stay in the hospital because of amoebiasis and I have high fever. I might be confined for few days but she angrily told me that she can't allow me to be absent. She told me that she can only allow me to be absent for half day.

Very familiar scenario. I need to be dying before I can go and use my sick leave. I just hate him to the highest level.

I feel sad for you for having a boss like that!
A boss who plays favorite and would always be chatting with his favorites could be reported for that, if ever that happens in our office.
But it seems that in your case, you have no HR Dept. who can deal with such kind of supervisor. I guess, you should start looking for a new job, lest being angry inside everyday would manifest in a health problem.

We do have an HR department where we can report such things. But reporting such means I have to go because other supervisors will find me a threat and may take it against me. Maybe I'll say that when I have my exit interview. I'd suggest a monthly supervisor evaluation.

We can't. The upper management likes him really well. He did a good job building that rapport and image. Sad for them, they are not aware of what' actually happening here.
