I come to Internet Cafe everyday and this is where I check emails, online games, watch videos, mylot etc. Where do you access Internet? At home? Office? What is the advantage of using your own computer and Internet at home? I pay around .17$ cents per hour with ac. The only bad thing is that there are too many kids and they are noisy. But at least I don't pay electric and Internet bills. I spend 3 to 5 hours per day on Internet Cafe.

Wow $0.17 per hour is extremely cheap compared to what you would hv to spend if you are surfing the internet in one of the internet cafes in my country. In internet cafes here, the minimum charge per hour is SGD$6. Of course it varies from cafe to cafe. There are some which charge SGD$8 per hour. I access internet at home as I have my own modem. But because I don't hv a printer at home, I go to internet cafes at times to print my documents. Wouldn't it be cheaper for you to get a modem or another device to access internet? Assuming that you spend 5 hours a day, you would be spending about $26 per month. Moreover, wouldn't the cafe staff ask you to stop if there are other customers waiting to use the computer? Isn't it inconvenient to go to the internet cafe everyday (unless it's very near your place)?

Hi Romscabs, Thanks for the best response.) I just recalled surfing the internet in an internet cafe last yr when I was in Manila. If I remember correctly, it cost me abt SGD$3/hr or more to surf. Are the rates different depending on the locations? Thanks!:)

Yeah it depends. Where I live, Internet Cafes are all over the place so competition is nice. Prices go down and they offer freebies for regular users. Like if I spend 2 hours I will get extra 30 minutes for free. I think in Malls, they are more expensive as they have to make up with the rent.

Yeah the cafe is a few walk from where I live. Today I spent 5 hours and paid almost 1$. When I have enough money I will just buy a laptop. However, if I do buy a laptop I am hoping it won't be the same as HP. I don't like HP as they have a very bad reputation on clients. You can search online about HP flickering. Wow $6 SGD per hour is very expensive. I can't begin to pay that.

I just access it at home, I used to go to internet cafes when our computer didn't have internet access yet, or it is still slow. Now I don't need to go that far since our internet connection is good. It is very helpful..We have cheap internet cafes though, just 15-20 pesos per hour

Thanks for the response! At least Internet Cafe is also cheap in your area. There are Cafes here that offers very low per hour rate with discounts if I stay longer than 3 hours. The monitors are huge and the Internet is very fast.

I use internet at my home. Previously I was using in cc and it costs RM2 per hour. Yes you don't have to pay electricity and bills. But now at home I pay RM50 and plus electricity and bills may add up to RM100. At cc, I was paying RM10 a day so it was RM300 per month. Its cheaper. Hope you will get your laptop soon so because the cc is very noisy with kids.

I am hoping I can buy a laptop soon! So I can use Internet at home. Though it is cheaper for me to buy a desk top, it will cost me so much electricity bill. So laptop would be my first choice. I wish I have the money now!

17 cents per hour in an internet cafe is pretty cheap! I'm also from the Philippines and the internet cafes I see here in Manila charge around 20 pesos an hour. That's like 46 cents in USD. I have my own DSL at home that costs around 20 USD a month. If you spend 3-5 hours a day, I suggest you try getting your own internet connection at home.

I think that is a good suggestion. I will try buy a new pc when I have money. Right now I can only afford a few dollar per hour. If I buy a pc or laptop, it will cost me thousands of money. Plus the electricity plus the Internet connections plus whatever happens to the computer or laptop. How I wish I can have the money now!

i usually access the internet from work and from home. mostly at home after the work.... and well i think i would not be able to afford going to a cafe everyday, i won't have time and since there is free wifi at home, i'd opt for it.

At least you have 2 options where to get your Internet. And at your office, you are free to use it. When I was working before, I get my Internet at work. However, they limit the use of Internet for personal use. It's like it was ok at first and then after a few months, they limit all workers to use Internet for personal use.

That is nice you have your own laptop to access everything online. I enjoy the game. Just a plain game. For fun. What games do you play online?

I currently own a usb broadband stick which I only spend 50 pesos or roughly one dollar to access the internet for 24 hours. The speed would fetch a clap or two but the connection is stable. If there is 3g or HSDPA signal it can reach more than 1 mbps speed. I'd like to attach a biquad antenna but I'm not good with electronics and can't risk losing the modem.

Hello Romscabs, I have broadband connection at my home as I do home-based online job of medical transcription. As far as advantages are concerned of using our own computer at home, most importantly they include safety of passwords. We can limit access to our computer at home. As of course, there is no disturbance at home. I have converted my study room into my workstation now. Previously, when I was working as an office-based employee, I used to have Internet access from my office only. I have never been to a cyber cafe in my whole life.

I used to have a laptop (cq40 HP) but it got broken because of LCD problems. That is good that you are able to work at home with good pay. I wish I could do that. You all have the free time you can.

$.17/hour? Wow very cheap. Usually the internet shop here at our place cost $0.24(10pesos) up to $.35(15pesos) and if the cafe' has an air-con you will pay $.47(20pesos). By the way, I usually access my internet stuff using my own PC at home and at work. I only pay $19 for my internet connection monthly. You always have the advantage if you use your own PC because you have your own time and you can access internet anytime you want.

The problem too if I have my own pc at home is the cost of electricity. When I was using Internet at home (before my laptop got broken) my electric bill was too high. Like 1,400 pesos per month. Now I only pay 700 pesos per month. You can try convert it in your currency online. So there is a big difference. However, I spend too many hours on Internet Cafe because of my love of online game and also now mylot. I will quit playing online game and will focus on mylot. I make money here anyway. Playing online game won't make me a dollar or something like that.
