I thought of a title to my book way back but yet to start the ball rolling. I just cannot start it although I know if I am at it I would atleast be able to produce 500 or more pages. The right moment has yet to come. I have known writers taking years to fulfil their dream and this has given me hopes that I too would be able to write my dream book before I quit this world!

Usually i have at least two word processors running at the same time. This way I could move to a different project when I get stuck on the writing project that I am currently on In a way this strategy has helped me get many things done. I guess this method is not for everyone.

Oh boy do I hate writers block!! Something that has helped me in the past, and may help you, is to step away from that book for a little while. Write something else, something short...a short story perhaps (my fave). I like to write short stories based on photographs I see. I'm going to upload a photo for you on this response, it's a photo I used to write, at least to me, a pretty good short story. Maybe you can come up with your own story for it. And if you do write something, I'd love to read it!!
Good luck

Omg you are so sweet.
But I'm so sorry I can't move on by a picture, I can by art so here's my tip as well as I write scifi and fantasy subjects and I think it can't work for you exactly because of that: you like reality, but I'm glad to finally meet a writer that begin with an image, although for me it works when it's not real like a painting.
I'd love to hear a summary of what you wrote about based on this pic, actually I'm dying of curiosity!

Hi there Katie 0!
When I don't feel like writing, I give myself a break. I try to relax, go somewhere peaceful and do nothing but just be quiet, reflect on my life, and after a while, go somewhere where I can talk to different people, do some reading and after that, or even during the process, I will find an inspiration to write again.

Well, I 'ride' the writer's block. What I mean is that I let it happen. Forcing writer's block to go away never works on me. If I had it, I usually busy myself with other things. For me, there's no reason not to be productive if I hit the wall when I'm writing. Funny enough, I started to solve my block when I'm doing otehr things or if I am distracted enough not to think of my block. After a f4ew ideas pop into my head, I resume writing and everything falls back into place.

Everyone finds their own way but I think a break is certainly something everyone needs. There is only so much time one should spend staring at a blank sheet of paper or a blank computer screen, until one feels they are going nuts.
I agree with breaks but what I have found works well is free writing..or random writing or whatever people call it. I just start writing anything that comes to mind even the fact that I have no ideas what to write at the monment. After a while it seems to help. If not, I try again later..I think persistence and patience are qualities every writter needs to develope to be successful.

I have been having a very difficult time writing of late. And in "of late" I mean the last year or two. I am in the editing stages of my novel... the 7th edit and I have lost interest. It is hard to get back to it. When I think of writing other stuff like poetry I am having difficulty doing that. As for novels, I have other ideas in mind but I don't like to start a new one without finishing another because I know I will never get back to it. Then I will find myself with 4 or 5 novels all unfinished. I already have one on the back burner (story finished but not edited) and my current novel which I have edited so many times I just can't seem to work on it anymore. I wish there was someone who could do that for me and wouldn't cost me any money. I need to force myself to get back to it but I am a procrastinator... or maybe I have lost the passion.
My health and depression may also play a role in my loss of interest. But no matter how little I write at home, I will not miss my bi-monthly writing group sessions. At least I write there, and I have a good time. And sometimes I even get inspired.

My advice..don't write yet. Don't force yourself to write if you have a writer's block and not in the mood to write. Forcing yourself will result into a non-quality article. Just have a rest first and unwind. Sometimes I stumble on the net and when I see something interesting, that motivates me to write. I guess reading some books can help too for you to have some ideas on how to start all over again.

When I get Writer's block, I usually take a break from writing, and do something that might give me ideas, such as taking a walk through my local park. It would often get my brain and imagination going wild. The worst time I have encountered writer's block was during my major exams! And obviously I wouldn't be able to just leave and take a stroll in the park!
