Today the popularity of books is slowly dwindling. They are being replaced by electronic version. I am thinking that maybe one day books will be a thing of the past. Do you think this will happen?

I still use books and I prefer them. I would not read a book on a kindle or any other electronic version I am afraid it will hurt my eyes. Plus you can find books at thrift stores for very cheap and when you use the electronic devices you have to pay full price for the stupid thing. I think it is just another way for them to make good money!

Yeah but there are still a lot of people that like these readers. They are so much cheaper if you just rent the book from library. What are they going to do now? Virtual library that would be cool. I am not sure how my eyes would be reading off of these things.

Me too I like books. I think it because of people like you and like me that books will always be around. However do you not think that so much more attention is being given to electronic devices than books now? We see this in the public domain. Perhaps the way we read has changed?

Yes I think books will be around but they will change and so in how they are used. We can see the trend even now. In fifty years there will be even more books available but much less in the stores and less stores only for that purpose. The publishing industry is in transition and it will follow the same trend until it is completed. I see books stores selling other things besides books. In the year 2061, books are a popular gift and craft item while electronic media is controlling the publishing industry.

Book will still be around, but i think the youth of today will be using books.50 years from now technology will be so advance, they will forget about books.
but it's not every one love the computer, like for example my grandfather i have to still write him a letter an mail through the post office....lol.
books will around for those are not technology friendly.
Now computer is so popular I hardly see people reading books, and news paper. But am glad a few still ready.

I really hope this will never happen. I hate e books and all that other um stuff it gives me headache to look at a screen like that, with a book I can read for hours, computers I start getting migraines and have to break ever few minutes.

I think that there will still be some books, but I do also think that a lot of them will have been replaced by electronic versions by the time we get to 50 years in the future. It is a shame really, because I like the feeling of holding a book in my hand, but the cost of the paper and the trees that it takes to produce them simply means that we can't be affording to do that anymore. I fear that many jobs will be lost in book shops because of this, as they will have to close down due to lack of interest, but hopefully we will be able to enter into a new age gracefully and successfully.

I really hope books don’t become obsolete.. as much of a geek it makes me, I used to love nothing more than my mum taking me to the book shop once a month and buying me 5 or 6 books.. I used to read them all really quickly.. I love books so much, and even though I love technology and gadgets and phones.. I like the simplicity of a book.

Maybe for historical purpose only, but i think in general we will mostly use e-book because it reduce the use of paper.

Probably, but come to think of it, it may really help preserve the environment, right? I mean, to produce paper, we need to cut down some trees. Though mostly today we use recycled paper, with greater use of electronic media, we may eventually rid ourselves of paper, though not totally.
