Here on mylot at times that is. Must really be to the newbies, as I cant quite remember. But what Im saying is, there are times when I think of a very interesting topic. Even something Ive conversed with family and friends about for periods of time and gotten long answers about. Then I put it here on mylot and hardly anyone finds it interesting then I will put something here that is just an update or an opinion and think I might not get much response and its overwhelming response. Have you noticed that? or is it just me and my silly thinking?

hi jazel its t he old laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.also there are some here who are so lazy that if your discussion is more than a skinny paragraph they will pass it by.Its hard sometimes to know what will or won't get respoonses. too.

you know i think Hatley may have something there. sometimes mine are really long even though i try to shorten them. the problem is, sometimes it takes some explaination to get the point across of my question.

One can solve the mystery of why the sea sends its waves non stop but not how the mind of a user here works! I am with you on this. I have topics with over 70 responses and some topics that I think would be flooded with responses have none. Strange are the ways of users here!

hi allknowing people are the strange things at times and I think some of it is we are inquisitive to know if others think like'we do about some things.almost like gossip but not quite. lol lol

hey allknowing and Hatley. Im thinking that Hatley really knows when to do a discussion. as i cant be first on one of yours, Hatley, ever even if its just there 5 minutes, i go and im number 12 or 13 so she must really be on at the same time as most friends. it seems i catch it right now and then but i guess some late nights i dont.

Actually I blame it on the time zone factor although this did not affect a couple of my topics which garnered more than 70 responses. Those who get consistently good responses could perhaps throw some light on their success 'mantra'

It may also be the time of day you post.If most of the people who respond are not awake, then your discussion kind of gets buried. I never know what will make a good discussion, and I do not make many of them. I also believe that people seem to get too busy for MyLot all at about the same time.

Yeah, at first it might come to you as confusing but if you're always here you'll start to understand how things work.

There really is not rhythm and or reason and as of late the activity shifts up and down. I can see that at times it is quite busy with many discussions and then at times not really anything new. I do add quite a bit all over the place but sometimes like this month I have taken hours on end breaks as offline life is screaming. lol But as for the updates, perhaps some members prefer personal type discussions. I really do not have a preference as I try to add where I can.

i think those discussions that happen on the real world would not work online. Hoere at mylot i talk to new people and they do not know my past and they don't know where i live. So posting a discussions on a real life experience would get so much response because many people are not familiar with my situation. If you post on an opinion on something that most here at mylot know about then you will get more response. This happens because people here know what you are talking about and they would answer you.

You are right...it happens to me too! I don't post many discussions but when I do, I've noticed that the ones where I would expect people to 'discuss' have just a handful of responses while the opinion and poll-like ones have got me the maximum responses. I guess people find it easier to just respond and leave it at that than to have a healthy discussion on a topic. They probably aren't even bothered to get an answer or know what others think.

oh i know. i hate it when people have a discussion, then never come back to comment on your comments. when i do one im really wanting to talk about that one thing in it.

I do not know what is going on. I do find when someone is talking about their family, I start to compare it to my own and if there is a similarity I will answer, but if not, I find it hard to. I also thnk it has to do with if your friends are on notify. I always go through them first and then the others. I do find that Iwill onlyy answer the post and not comment on someone else's comments. Maybe it is the time I have to my lot.

yes and im thinking sometimes you are right about people not having us on notify. ive got all my friends on notify. if someone starts just throwing out tons of discussions or i find im not interested in the same things, i feel whats the point of staying friends? i mean its all about participation here. you know.

hi bunnybon I think its the inquistiveness in us that makes us cotton to an update or an opinion as we wonder how alike or different we are from other mylotters here. its surprising but' then us humans are always a surprising lot too. How are you doing by the way? last time things sounded pretty good so hope it is still going great. hugs from hatley

at times i do feel lots better. then, like last night i took a bad turn for a few hours with chills and sweats. my daughter made me lay down and rest. she says i do more then what i should. i really dont like just laying in bed asking for things she thinks i should. im a bit better today as you can tell.

I have noticed that. Probably some days there are more people spending time here than others. It would be interesting to figure out what day(s) of the week the 'popular' posts are made, and what day(s) of the week the 'unpopular' ones are made. Is there a difference of weekdays vs. weekends? Or days vs. nights? Anyone ever notice?

Well im thinking i about got it figured. like GG said, maybe your friends would be working or sleeping when you are on and by the time they get to mylot its buried and they only have time to answer a few discussions. then, like another person said (and i dont know why anyone does this) they could have you off notify and miss it. I dont understand that thinking because why have a ton of friends if you are not going to go to their discussions? its not FB where some seem to think the idea is to have hundreds of friends you dont talk with i dont put anyone off notify. if they dont jive with me or have to many for me to reply, i take them off friends. they wont miss me anyway. i mean whats the point?

There have been a lot of discussions that I have started I thought would be super interesting with few responses..lol. I have got some of the best quality of responses from them though.

Discussions are always more interesting face-to-face...it makes you focus more. Online, everything is said faceless...you just get words on a screen, and people don't seem to pay you much attention. But when you put up an opinion that's different from some other peoples', then discussions get fired up. When people ask for your opinion, you can give it to them. But if they state their opinion and it's against theirs, then you get REALLY passionate and start attacking. So that maybe solve the opinion problem. I guess things online are just different from the real life. We react differently, because it's a whole different form of communication. Happy mylotting!

true in most of our friendships here. but i become very close with the friends i have. most of them seem to me like i know them closely. i just think at times i miss whats a great discussion and what isnt on my part.

Yes I agree with you.It is quite hard to first come up with a topic and then find people to reply to it. Sometimes I find top discussions with many replies which focus on quite a simple subject. Maybe it is also a matter of luck.

Yeah, this may be true. It's very rare that I come up with a subject that gets a lot of responses. And the questions are usually really simple ones that don't require that much thought. And when I post questions that are really detailed, they get much less attention. It annoys me, but maybe you need to think differently when you're online. Or maybe, like you said, it's just luck. Happy mylotting everyone!

grkelly, its not a matter of luck. when i first started, i think its how many friends you have with same interests. so i soon learned the pick and choose thing oxaqua, its probably like some have said, friends are not online at the same time, so it gets buried in other discussions before your friends get here. thats possible i suppose happy mylotting to both of you.

I think that would depend on the mood of the responder, the interest one has in the topic and if they are tired or not. I know from personal experience that when it's late, I tend to respond to the more simple discussion, because I don't have to think to much. Maybe if you took the topic, stream lined it a bit, maybe even change the title. you might get more hits.
