Good for you. I can show to everyone that whatver neutrients you are looking for you can find it without killing animals. Anyone who kills animals or buys the meat, or maintains the slauterhouse, or cooks the meat, all of them contribute to the killing. If even one of these were to stop killing would have stopped.

Some guy who liked to eat meat said that we are carnivores. That does not provide a philosophical justification of eating meat. We have to take evidence from the scriptures. Additioanlly, we must seewhat is the benefit of killing. Cant we live healthy without killing. Answer is we can. Infact, more and more diseases are due to meat eating. You can check out the reasons of several major diseases online.

Not that you cannot kill animal for eating! Srimat Bhagvat Gita, Bible and Kuran told not to kill animal or human without any reason. Some animal in forest, and pet, some in water and some in sky was created for eating by man and it is not offensive. If you kill any live without any reasons that is prohibited.

I don't follow any specific religion, but I don't personally eat meat. I eat dairy products but that's it. By reading your other posts/comments here, it sounds as if we have similar view points regarding this, regardless of our spiritual beliefs. I do believe that a society should be judge based on how it treats its most vunerable members, and to me, society does not just include people-it includes all of the animals and plants we interact with everyday. I do understand (and don't judge) others who do eat meat, as people often behave and believe based on what they have been taught and how they were raised. I do, however, abhor how most livestock is treated. There are some farmers who are ethical in their treatment and really do try to take care of their animals-and then there are those people (farmers and non-farmers) who see animals as here only for our amusement, use, or exploitation.

I'm a Christian and the Bible does say "Thou shall not kill". However, He was not referring to animals. And if you read the whole Bible, you'll realize that. Also you cannot mix different religions and beliefs.
Maybe what you are saying is any other books but it is not in the Bible.

The whole human race going to hell by this animal killing. Ahimsa or nonviolence, being compassionate on the animals and human beings is to be practised. In the Christian religion also, it is clearly stated, 'Thou shall not kill'. So everywhere animal killing is restricted. In no religion the unnecessary killing of animals is allowed. But nobody is caring. The killing process is increasing, and so are the reactions. Every ten years you will find a war. These are the reactions.

Non-veg food is absolutely unhygienic for health in a polluted environment. Its efficacy even otherwise is subject to debate. First of all, non-veg food raises the blood pressure, if consumed frequently. Secondly, non-veg food is not advisable if a person wishes to get purity in his thoughts. Our thoughts are a result of what we eat.
People eat non-veg food so that they grow to become muscular and energetic. But, vegeterian food has all the ingredients that make up a balanced food. When fresh fruits and green vegetables can provide all the necessary nutrients, I fail to understand why people find flavour with non-vegeterian food.

With the recent outbreak of ecoli in spinach and other produce I would say it is dangerous to eat any thing nowadays whether it be animal or plant.
I think your best bet is to grow your own food....including raising your own animals. But this is not feasible for everyone.

I would like to know where in the Bible it states that you cannot eat animals....
I'm a Christian and I have yet to read or hear about this anywhere. Actually the Bible says the complete opposite.
He did say though shall not kill, but he was not referring to animals obviously.

Now God was against cruelty to animals but not killing them for food. And also God said that he wanted us to have dominance over all the animals.
But anyways, you want some proof, here you go: Luke 24:42-43, "And they gave him (referring to Jesus) a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb. And he took it, and did eat before them."-Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.-Genesis 9:3-4 Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything. But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it.-Romans 14:5-6 One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord. He who eats meat, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who abstains, does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God.- You can read all of Leviticus chapter 11, not typing it all out on here.-1 Tim 4:1-4, 1 Corinthians 10:25, Exodus 12:1-11. There are many more as well but don't feel like typing it all. :)

There is no one particular quote I would mention but throughout the history of the Jews it was accepted practice to kill animals as an offering to God. This is never thought of as wrong, so one must assume that the command "Thou shalt not kill" referred only to human life.
One has to remember that the Bible is a history book - a history of a people and a history of a religion. Jesus replaced the Ten Commandments with two and Paul officially absolved the Gentile Christians from being bound by Jewish law.

So, then you tell em where in the Bible it says that you cna kill animals. Thou shall not kill is there. Now, if you say thou shall not kill does not refer to animals then you prove it from the Bible becuase you believe in it. Show me a quote in Bible where it says something like thou shall not kill does not refer to animals. Thank you for your post.

1) because not all of us are religious and 2) because our bodies need the proteins.

No it is wrong if they r not religious then we should correct them if they r not giving birth to anyone then they also have no right to kill anyone. and if u r talking about protiens then Vegetables have 10 to 15 times more proteins.

Why should I do what the bible tells me to do? I have my own brain and I can think for myself. If a doctor came to me and told me to kill myself, I can guarantee I wouldn't do it. Why? Because I can think for myself. And that includes the bible. Just because the bible says so, doesn't make it right. Also, eating meat is a part of the circle of life. A lion could eat vegetation and survive, but they still kill zebras for food. Not to mention, there are certain VITAL nutrients that are in meat that every person needs. A true vegetarian can not be healthy without these nutrients, therefore they must take supplements instead.

My statements about nutrients in meat is not an opinion, it's a fact. I am a science major and I have studied nutrients in great depth. Look it up in any science journal or text. Also, I was not commenting to you about the bible. You're not the one who posted. So my comment about the bible was not directed towards you.

I have not said do it because Bble said so. I used example of bIble because someone used it to expalin why eating meat is okay. So i asked him to provide evidence. Yes, we should philosophically analyze. It is not true however to say that we wont get nutrients from other sources. A vegeterian can indeed be completely healthy and indeed more often than not less diseased than meat eaters. Please check out the all the surveys and use your intelligence as you like to do. Thanks for your response.

Well, there are just people who like to eat meat.
Not all the population belongs to those group that doesn't eat meat.
And some country, meat is definitely more accessible than other food.

Going by the originall question I'm putting in my 2 cents worth. Why do we still kill and eat animals even though those religions say not to? It's all in your own interpritation of each religion. I myself do not know where the bible says don't kill and eat animals. It does say some animals shouldn't be eaten on certain days or not to eat them unless blessed (if I'm thinking right). I myself eat meat because I like the taste of it.
To the one person who keeps saying you are what you eat and show where it says in the bible where it is OK to kill and eat animals. Where does it say you should not and be specific please.

Ok saying that the commandment not to kill refers to animals is ridiculous. If it means we shall not kill anything we will not be able to eat at all because in order to eat a vegitable you must will it also. It is a LIVING plant.......hhhhhmmmmm chew on that one.
In the Bible it says we are to prepare our food in certain ways and to not eat certain animals. But that is all in the Old Testiment when Jesus brings in the New Testament He also brought in a new covenant and said that the Greatest Commandment is that we love one another........hhhhhhhmmmmmm critisizing others choices on eating is that love?
By the way Jesus ate meat and made sure their was enough meat for His followers.

That is exactly what I was talking about when I said it's all in your interpritation. It says thou shall not kill. You see it as you shouldn't kill anything for any reason. I see it as you shouldn't kill another human being. You ask me to say where it is OK and I ask you to say where that commandmet includes animals.

Well, it says thou shall nto kill. Now, if you say that statement is not for animal killing. Then you ahve to proe by a statement from that particular scripture. (In this case the Bible) So, jsut saying you liek the taste is not a very philosophically inferentative reasoning. Thanks for participating. I hope people ponder on these issues without getting angry. Good luck.

You are wrong on both points. There are VITAL nutrients in meat that you cannot get from vegetation. If you are a vegetarian, you had better be taking supplements or you will eventually become sick. And eating meat does not make you diseased if it is cooked right. Yes, you may get a bad cut of meat that had something in it, but you can also get a bacteria from vegetables.

i can prove u that we get more Protiens and vitamins from vegeterian food than Non-vegeterian food. and killing someone takes u to hell. Only to satisfy ur Belly u r killing someone. Keep someone very near to u in the place of that animal and then think.

If everybody starts eating only vegetarian food, there will be lot of shortage of vegetarian food. Because there will be increase of animals along with humans. Hence by consuming non-veg also, food requirement is balanced.
ok. Next thing is in all religions it is said we should not kill. No where there is any comment about eating.

No u r wrong sir. I think u have studied Food Piramyd in ur school days. In that u can c that Grass is eaten by frog which is eaten by snake is eaten by eagle. so u dont have to worry about the population of the animals. every living being has been given his food. He should eat according to that. And if u r talking about eating the animals they r eaten only after killing them. withoput killing them u cannot eat them.

The habit of eating non-veg food is cultivated in childhood, where parents may be eating. Now they feed the child also, presuming its good in protiens. My child since birth does not like such food,so I do not incourage him to eat non veg food.

There are so any differnt ways to answer this question. A few answers is that suprisingly some don't believe in the scriptures. Others do and are allergic to any foods besides vegan. Some people just can't stomach the idea of eating somehing that was once live. I am a meat-eater myself.
