I am a firm believer in embracing the things you struggle with. As a writer, I have to push past my comfort zone. At first thought I might resist a topic because it is way beyond my scope of understanding. My boss is also a great mentor. He challenges me to push through my fears and learn the things I don't yet understand.
I think I always knew I would somewhere in my heart that I would write professionally. I spent most of my professional life as a nurse. That helped me in my writing career now. I will always be a medical writer, but I am also reaching in new directions in order to stay abreast of things in the company I am helping to build. If it weren't for my boss having faith in my ability I wouldn't push myself to the extremes that I do. I don't do it for short term gratification. I push myself for the betterment of my life as I live it and as I reach the future days of my life. In other words I believe that my efforts will being a better future for myself and my family.
Do you push through your struggles? Please share your thoughts.

Thank you for sharing your story. I recently made a big life change a couple of months ago to pursue a career in writing. I am also pushing past my comfort zone, I feel it helps you grow and I think everyone should do it. I've always had a passion for words, a need to express myself through poetry. I finally realized I myself inside am not going to be satisfied in life until I do what satisfies me, writing. So I quit my job and am now working on my first novel. I am also working on short stories and anything else I could write. I feel like I am finally finding myself and understanding myself after 27 years. I'm starting to finally feel whole and I really have my husband to thank that made me realize being an administrative assistant for the rest of my life wasn't going to make me happy. Through struggle I think we really realize where we want to be, not struggling. And we have to look deep inside to see what it takes to stop struggling.

I'm so happy to read that you have found your purpose in writing. I live it too, though I don't write stories. I'm an article writer, a copywriter and a firmer ghostwriter.

That is the very same way with me. I push through my struggles day in and day out. I think that really helps the mind and to keep me sane actually. I work hard every day also and push myself to the limit to achieve a good earning potential for my family also. I feel good about myself when I reap the rewards of my hard labor too.

Hi Steph! I know you push yourself also. You have taught me how to do things on the Net that I had never done.

I would definately consider myself a fighter and one that embraces the struggles in my life, and fight thru them learning as I go to make sure everything turns out OK while learning how to keep on moving forward from here. It is good to hear that you have a Boss like this who is supportive as when you need someone to stand by you when you need them, that is a Good thing. I know in my life there are people I can count on both here, and with my wonderful husband and church friends that helps when I am needing them the most as well.

I always wanted you to push forward too,
I try sometimes it comes to me easy learning new things, sometimes it is a struggle and sometimes I know it is just not for me. I know my strengths and weaknesses very well.
As a counselor one of the things we do is determine people's strengths and weaknesses. There are several tests and it shows the aptitude people have for different things. I know my where my aptitudes lie and where I am just not cut out for certain things and that is also important to know, so I work within the range of my aptitudes. also have some learning disabilities that have held me back and some I was able to cope with and move on.

Yes embracing our struggles allows us to recognize later at how good and or weak we actually are in certain areas. I do push, and sometimes way too much but I have always found that I personally must take care of me as it has always been this way for me. I am not the type that sits back and waits for opportunities to land on my lap. So I am always looking for ways to improve in anything I set my mind to do.
I am glad that you are doing really great with the writing and that your boss truly appreciates you hard efforts as well.

Thanks. I owe my boss (and also my friend) a lot of gratitude. He gently pushes me beyond my limits. I know this will help me in more ways than one.
I really believe if we are content to not move forward we will start moving backward because our peers will be passing us.

i think the best way of succeeding is by staying out our of comfort zones. I once read a certain article that say that, if you are comfortable then you will never see any results. What this means is that if you want to see new results we must be prepared to move out of our comfort zones and do the things that would bring us the results we want.
We must also set realistic targets and push ourselves until we have achieve those targets. Procrastination slows people and we must learn to always act and we should never stop and doubt ourselves.
