Hello MYLOTTERS, Sleeping was always my past time hobby hehehe.I used to sleep whenever i used to get time to sleep but now i don't feel like sleeping in day even on SUNDAYS i don't feel sleepy at all in the day also in night too i sleep just for 6~7 hours. I am really surprised by this change. Is it normal or i need to consult a doctor.

I would say that maybe the changes and or perhaps stresses in your normal routine is causing you to loose out on sleep. I am one who sleeps only 6 hours for many years and am able to function well. Since this is a change I would say try and determine if there is something that is keeping you awake and perhaps work towards improving that area. I probably would not suggest a doctor right away, as the last thing you want is to get sleeping medication which will alter your normal sleeping pattern and or cause you to be dependent on them in order to sleep. See if there is something that perhaps you are thinking way too much on and that might be the cause, then work on ways to improve that to see if there is a change. Sounds easier then it is but sometimes stress makes me very restless and my regular sleep pattern does get interrupted.

Then my response is spot on. lol He is stressing a little as he is not able to connect with us all here. I remember him saying he could not do so at work anymore. I can imagine it being a bit stressful for him as he does have an offline job and twins at home. We will remind him that sleep is important and that we will welcome him instantly anytime he gets a chance to come here.

Hi HWG I am agree.. Too much thinking for something and stress can cause this problem. @suny.. Are you sure he is killing his sleep for that !!! He haven't mentioned about it.

You are able to sleep 6 to 7 hours at a time, that is a lot of hours. I can manage 4 hours at a time and I have to wake up. I do not have to get up though and I may be able to continue sleeping after a few minutes.

for any career person, he would be dying to get at least 4 or 5 hours sleep. but it is usually even difficult for them. because some of them still carry their works till they reach home. it's just too difficult to get the idea of enough sleep these days. but if i stay more than 6 or 7 hours in bed even just lying down, i'd get back pain.

Lol, same here. 6-7 hours is crazy for me! I usually sleep between 4 to 5 hours, and then I'm forced to get up for the day (I'm usually up pretty late in the night doing homework). So honestly, I wouldn't be too concerned, because you seem to be getting a good amount of sleep, and that should be healthy for your body (unless you're under the age of 10 :P).

Well if you don't feel sleepy, then I'd say there's no problem. I LOVE sleep. I always have, but then I had a baby and had to get up earlier and lost out on sleep. I learned to live with less sleep and found that I didn't really need the sleep - but I still want it b/c I still love to sleep :) Well, that's because I had a baby. But as for suddenly not needing as much sleep, I think that is normal. I know many people who said they naturally sleep less as they get older.

agree! my grandma sleeps only for 3 hours now. when she wakes up at 3am, she would hardly get back to sleep again. she would start moving things in the kitchen. preparing anything for the breakfast. imagine, breakfast is already served at 6am when im still at the peak of my dreams. haha.

@ Vivasuzi it also happened with me too when my wife delivered twins and we both had to take care of the kids in the night so gradually i lost my sleep and now i feel i have got the habit of sleeping for 6 hours at night which causes pain in the body when wake up in the morning. @ chiumee As we grow older our sleep becomes less.I have also seen it with my grand father & mother.

Let me tell you a good way I am using for well sleep. Just take hair oil massage and you will feel sleepy very fast for sure. Just try it and tell me is it works or not.

i understand how that works. massaging your head will increase circulation in the area and will definitely relax your mind at the same time. sweet dreams.

Hi Sj Probably your twins are keeping you up. Don't worry, 6 - 7 hours is enough for an adult like you. I too get around that much hours of sleep each day or sometimes less.

No i think that is perfectly alright. Sleeping 7-8 hours is just ideal for a person's body. I think sleeping more is the problem. Right now you are sleeping just enough. And I wish I would be like you too. I sleep awfully a lot and am sleepy most of the day too. Even now, it's just 6 in the evening but I feel so drowsy. How did you change your habits? Can you give me a few points too?

Hello thatgirl, Thats because you may be having the habit of sleeping in the afternoon. I feel drowsy because may be 7 hours sleep which i take at night may not be good enough for my and it needs more.

you see, you are even luckier because i only get to sleep for 5 or 4 hours a day. i can't easily get my sleep even if i am very tired at work. i still have tasks to do when i reach home. and these tasks changes my mood and when i am back to my bed, i can't sleep immediately. it would still take me minimum of 30 minutes imagining or just staring at the ceiling. my mind wandering anywhere. i think you just need some more healthy foods like fruits as your snack instead of junks. you will just be fine. you are sleeping good enough i guess.

Hello Chiumee, Oh friend your case is not better than mine. Please do not start taking sleping pills and try to do some YOGA and meditation may be you will make your mind free from stresses and will be able to sleep well because i think if i person is not sleeping for 5 hours too than he/she should see a doctor.

Haha, that's quite the opposite from me. I used to hate sleeping. I saw it as a waste of time, as I could be doing so much more. But now that I'm in high school and working my butt off, I get tired more easily and love sleeping. It just seems like a time when your troubles seem to drift away. Then you're awake again and like...crap. Has this been going on for a while? If it has, and has been affecting your work day (like, you have less energy and such), then I would consult a doctor. If not, monitor it more frequently, and try to remember the details (like, what time do you start to fall asleep at, other characteristics) and if it continues to occur, let a doctor know. I shouldn't be too concerned, some people go through a phase where they simply don't like to sleep as much. But if it's starting to affect your daily routines and such, I would let a doctor know. Good luck!

Hello oXAquaXo, When i was a student i also used to sleep app 5~6 hours a day due to burden of studies but at present there is lot of physical work at office so obviously 5~6 hours sleep is not enough for body to relax. Recently it is not effecting my health but i think if it continues will have ill effects on my health so i should try to manage time to complete work and make schedule to get at least 7 hours sleep daily.

hi friend, i think u r absolutely fine and energetic during the day time as a 7 hours sleep, sound sleep, at night is normal sleep hours of a normal person. Might be that you are finding more time to relax at night and just utilizing your day time in some other activity. I would suggest no to the doctor as actually what's your problem.., u said sleeping was your hobby and not a problem@!

Well 6-7 hours is normal. I've read sleeping more than 8 hrs is bad for you. If you're having trouble sleeping maybe you should consult a doctor if you are concerned.

Hello sjvg, I don't know why you had this nature to feel sleepy all the time that is not good for health. But as you now got some new pattern. It is more better although it is sudden change to you.Even doctors and research says that for a good health and mind rest we need 8 hours sleep in one time.More that it make us more dull.6 hours can be taken to okay.Sleeping in day is also not good. So you are now very much okay.May be you had changed any eating habits because food always affects our sleepy nature. It is always very much good to consult with a doctor you are comfortable to go there.

It may be due to the reason that you are mow a days engaged in various activities so it also ruins your sleep. You might be tensed of something, this also ruins the sleep. It is a bit normal now-a-days. Even to match the today's world you have to sleep less and work harder.

i usually don't get sleep immediately if i come from using the computer. while i am in front of it, my eyes would complain of feeling sleepy. but as soon as i lie down, i can't get my sleep. my mind is like picturing what i have been staring at the monitor. i guess, if you decide to sleep after computing, gotta do something else as well. trouble is, you'll just delay your sleep some more. hah. observe and think what is giving you difficulty in sleeping. then try changing it.

@ Piyush Oh yes this is the main reason of loosing my sleep because of the tensions of work and home.I am doing that only but finding it difficult to cope up. @ Chiumee delaying sleep is not good as it happens with me sometime if i delay my sleep it may happen that won't get after several hours lying on the bed.

Hello Best, No i am happy with life and not in depression right now. I think due to more offline works & responsibilities i cut my sleep and fixed it to 6 hours and now my body also has become habitual to take sleep of only 6 hours a day.

Habit of too much sleeping is not good for health. 6 to 7 hours sleep is enough for healthy one. If you feel fresh with this sleep than it is not a problem. You must have a nap of half hours in afternoon. It is good for health.
