Not as explosive as you may think!

Wow a supermarket here in the UK now produces a chocolate spread with popping candy in it!! I saw the advert for it in their magazine and thought 'I gotta get some of that'. Luckily I did when I did because I actually got the last jar. So far the kids haven't had a look in and I might have to get another jar before they remember to ask me for some haha. The only reservations I had about it was that it might be a bit over-explosive which could make eating it quite unpleasant but nope, it is absolutely scrummy and fun to eat! Do they sell popping candy chocolate spread in your country? Have you ever tried it or would like to?

I have not heard of this new popping candy chocolate spread. Sounds interesting. I will have to look it up on the internet to see if the US has it. Sure sounds different. What will they come up with next. LOL.

Hi ya MaryLynn321 Well I am surprised no one has come up with it before but we have gone a bit crazy for popping candy in this country as our local candy store sold out of it the other week and hadn't been able to get any more hahaha. I remember it was really popular in the 80's and then it disappeared but now it is back it's not as powerful as it was before! Thanks Oh by the way if you want to look it up I am sure it would be on the Sainsbury's website, that is the store that makes it here in the UK

Thank you for the information. I will save the name and look it up sometime. Sounds like the popping was to powerful the last time around, so they lessened the impact it gives. Enjoy.

We have or had chocolate bars with popping candy inside. It's interesting, but the popping distracts from the chocolate. I'll stick to plain old Nutella or plane chocolate without pops.

Hi there TheCatLady Hahaha yes I understand what you mean by the distractions and it can be annoying at times haha. We too have chocolate bars with popping candy in it but I haven't actually tried it - yet haha Thanks

I like pop rocks but can't imagine it with chocolate or in a spread for that matter. Well chocolate is good and pop rocks are good so who knows. The closest having it in a food stuff (there's lolly pop that brings pop crystal in the bag and you eat it with the lolly by dunking it) is an ice cream called lemon fizz which has something that fizzes when eaten. Well since you seem to find it tasty, enjoy.

Hi there xmichelletarax and welcome to mylot Ah well you are half way there then haha just mix the two together then and you will have what we have here. There isn't any flavour to the popping candy/pop rocks that I can tell but when you buy them seperately you can get them in orange, strawberry and cola that I know of! Cheers

Hi ya apples It sure is good and I am surprised that the US has not come up with this yet as usually they are the first to do most things hahha. Just buy some popping candy and mix it in with Nutella hahaha I am not sure what popping candy is called in the US and I don't ever recall coming across any of it during my 2 and half years out there but then I wasn't looking for it haha Cheers

I am scratching my head trying to visualize what this is. I don't think we have popping chocolate candy. I know that there is a candy that comes in an individual packet (very small one), that is called pop candy but nothing in a spread in and or jar. Now I will be on the look out wondering if I have ever seen it and or if it exists here. lol

Hi ya hardworkinggurl It is a chocolate spread with popping candy in it not popping chocolate candy haha We also have an ice-cream lolly that has popping candy on the chocolate coating, that too is really good. Hope you find it in your stores, you'll have to let me know haha Cheers hwg

I am Spanish living in England and we don't have that in Spain, I never liked popping candy much, but lately I bought a packet to do an experiment I read in a website and it was not as bad as I remembered, but still... not my cup of tea! Anyway do you get the same result if you get your jar of Nutella and pour a couple of popping candy sachets inside? :P

Hi there Timeout Well I have wondered about how they add popping candy to stuff because I would have thought that the second it hits any kind of moisture it would set it off like it does in your mouth. When I was a kid I remember it being quite explosive to the point where it stung my mouth on occassions haha. I think it is still cheaper to buy it as it is rather than buy Nutella and put poppping candy in it and also my local sweet shop keep selling out of the little popping candy sachets as it is very popular at the moment. haha Cheers
