We took last weekend off because the nephew who is doing the work broke some bones in his foot, and it was hot, AND I had a migraine last Sunday...
However, Friday, September 23rd was pretty nice, so I went out to my shed. I turned on the air conditioner to start cooling off the shed. Then I took everything I could move (meaning almost everything in it) out, or moved it about and swept out the shed. I then took the swifter out with wet cloths and "mopped" the areas I had swept. I also took the wet cloths and wiped down the new shelves we had built for the shed so they were no longer dirty.
I then put the shelves in the places they are going to go, so the nephew can screw them into the wall when he comes back.
Finally, I brought back in the stuff I had taken out that had to come back in - tools and stuff - but I left the scrap wood outside - not like its going to rain any time soon...
By then it was about 4 p.m. (I had started about 2:30.) I had bought a couple of chairs to sit out on my shed's deck, but I brought them inside. I dusted them down before doing so too. I then went back inside, fixed a cool drink, got my reading glasses and a book and went outside to wait.
Well, my guy friend, J, was going to come over and we were going to talk "lights". Before there had been a florescent fixture, but that was too heavy to go out without studs to attach to, so we discussed going to pick up a new kind of ceiling light. After all, it doesn't have to be a light to work by, I have task lights for that, just needs to provide general lighting.
After 5, J and I ran off and found a little ceiling light that should do the job, he's going to install it on Sunday.
It was really quite nice to sit out in my shed...
Well, I stayed up WAY too late last night, I discovered a new game on facebook... so I crawled off to bed about 2 a.m. None the less, I woke up about 7ish, and before 8, the roomie and I were out in the nice cool morning and we put a couple more hours into the sheds project.
To get the brown shed empty to start the construction, the nephew had loaded all the stuff into the green and blue sheds. He had put most of the furniture in the green and the boxes in the blue - tho actually its amazing how little actual boxes were in there, except what we had put in from the green shed sort - I think those actually went back into the green shed.
We took another load to Goodwill, threw out almost a garbage can's worth of old paper - the city won't take plain paper in recycling - and put a coffee table up on freecycle (its gone!) We also put some large trash out by the curb, but no takers yet.
We found some stuff, ran some stuff through the wash and just generally have gotten more stuff done, and some more order in the shed project!
Don't you know, they are saying its going to be 100 again tomorrow... I can't wait until it really cools off, by 10 when we were shutting it down, it was already getting warm!
The picture is of the sheds before too much work had been done, the deck on the front of the brown shed hasn't been built.
So, have you had a constructive day, even if you didn't get enough sleep?

Actually I have nothing really going on for me these days, been indoors for weeks. Suffering from migraines and constant headaches all the time. I have been despite the pain basically scouring the internet for work and posting on here in between. It is chilly by me and seems like winter will be here soon.
I am glad to see that despite the hot temperatures you all make the best of the somewhat cooler morning and dive right in and get so much accomplished.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and hope you all get to finish this project soon.

you know those chinese puzzles where there are 16 holes and 15 squares and you have to get them in order?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sliding_puzzle
Well, this whole project is like that.
We can't move this until we move that.
Granted, we are "cheating" the puzzle a bit by getting rid of stuff, but that's real life ain't it?
However, we couldn't start on the brown/craft shed until we cleaned out the green shed (all the craft supplies in plastic bins are OUTSIDE right now!) and we couldn't clean out the green shed until the nephew got it raised so we could get IN it again!
Now, we have to clean out the blue shed to put my craft materials in it... And after we clean that out, we can clean out the "cat room" which will become a bedroom, of sorts... I got a freecycle captain's bed that we are going to build into the wall. You see, the room is 6'3 inches. The mattress is just over 6'. I'm just over 5'. So a built in bed would work for me. Not be the easiest thing to MAKE, but would work...
Even IF things change and I don't need it for my bedroom, because all I do in my bedroom is SLEEP (its all the cats allow me to do) we could use it for a guest room for a short guest...

It really sounds like the entire, though a lot of work, seems to be an exciting project. I am sure that when it is all done you will be so glad with all the invested time and efforts.

I am hoping your activity will boost mine. I let hubby talk me into things I should not do and then I skip the things I should. Mix a little stubborn car trouble into that and there you have most of my morning. Then my sister called, wanting me to bring her some celery, which I do not have. She lives too far away to walk, and I am not going to drive my little red car until Bob figures out what is going on. Could just be a battery departing from this earth. I am working on increasing my online income. I should also give myself credit, I am going through junk and trash type stuff upstairs,in the "computer room" and I am making progress. We are actually having fall like weather, and that part is really good.

even when the craft shed is done, doesn't mean the project is done, just that phase of it!
However...
Phase one: clean out the green shed is: DONE!
Phase two: fix craft shed is: nearly done
Phase three: organize craft shed: in planning stages
Phase four: clean out blue shed: started
Phase five: re-sort materials put into green shed: looked at
Phase six: organize craft materials in blue shed: not started
All told, there are about 20 phases to this project... I think I've got a life time's worth of work to do...

Whew! That is a lot to do! Truth be told I am not good at prioritizing. Lord knows I love a clean house, but I have to keep it clean from the beginning to keep it that way. There is a lot I need to do, a lot of things that need to be sorted through. A lot of my mom's stuff that I inherited, etc. So much to be done, so much to be put away, and it'd look nice...
Looks like you've got a lot done in a short amount of time, mind sending me some of that energy?

Oh my goodness. Keep up the good work. I know you can get it done. Just keep chuggin along. You have good intentions so before you know it, if you are careful about not getting to hot, it will be done.
You need our temperature. Beautiful out. And nice strong breeze. About 75 and 5 something at night. I wish you well.

I'm enjoying your "phases" updates. I've been in a similar situation since June. My mother-in-law moved in with us over the summer (in phases), so we had to rearrange our household. Then we had to clean out and shut down her home in another town. This took about two to three months. My husband started building large new workshop about mid September for his electrical company. I'm inheriting his old workshop which is a 30' x 30' with two roll up doors like a garage. He still has his tools and equipment in the old workshop, so I have been working around his stuff on my crafting. This makes it very difficult to stay organized and to find my items when I need them. Not that I'm complaining - I've gone from a tiny kitchen corner nook area to the front part of the old workshop. Soon I'll have the whole space to myself for a studio. Then I can get organized.
But first, we'll have to move all of his equipment and electrical stuff to the new workshop. Then I'll have to move all of my supplies and equipment that are in storage into the old workshop. I hope to be in by the end of November or by early December.

thanks, I had to kick up the "cat room" a bit because one, or more, of the cats figured out how to get into the "cat room" and Elmer, one of the feral cats, got in there and wouldn't come out...
I ended up working in there to spook him out, so the "cat room" is in better order than it has been in months!
