In this world not only talent but fortune also is required to survive in any fields.Kambli is the best example. He made the world record partnership of 664 runs with Sachin Tendulkar for the school teams. He had to wait a long time to play for India. He has just played 17 tests but scored 4 centuries including 2 double centuries,3 fifties and has a batting average is 54.2.No one can forget the 1996 ODI World cup semi final at Calcutta.Ind-Srilanka match was interrupted by the angry crowd.Kambli was one of the batting men and was eager to bat as there was still a chance to win. When the math was stopped declaring SriLanka as winner Kambli was weeping at the crease. SriLanka won that word cup in the final. He never got chances deserving to his talent.

Hi mohkanari,
At last Vinod Kambli thought that the day has come for him to retire from all forms of cricket after continuously believing and thinking that he can bounce back to international competitive cricket from the day he was discarded by the selectors. I will slightly modify your first sentence. For the player to be successful continuously at the highest level in any sporting event, not only talent and luck is required, but also discipline and dedication towards the sports you are following. The nice examples of such discipline and dedication shown towards their sport are Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar and Rahul Dravid. These players remain at the top not only by shear talent they possessed but by the dedication towards their sport. They gave up everything in life to achieve and sustain at highest level in their sport. Despite possessing enormous talent, Vinod Kambli could not persist with his game as he was dragged towards glamour usually associated with the players at that level. He was first player I saw hitting Warn as if he was a school kid. Nobody must have hit Ambrose in O.D.I. as he did. Any way I wish him all the best in his future endeavor.

Hi abtroy,
Vinod kambli is from a middle class family from Maharashtra. Although there is a tendency among most of the Indians to support their local players, Vinod Kambli was supported by whole of India and wanted him to bounce back purely based on the shear talent he possessed and being wasted. He chose to persist with his style of life giving little respect to the wishes of the general public.

In those days cricket was considered as gentleman's game, And there discipline mattered a lot and Kambli was not having that.
But if he was to debut in todays cricket, his indiscipline, would have been enjoyed by the crowd, as what, like sreesanth performs. And no doubt that Kambli is a very goo player, and if he was to get into cricket now, then his indiscipline would have been discarded due to his good cricket. And the T20 format would have grabbed him with both hand.but everything has its own time...

One just has to do a case study of Kambli and Sachin. Two players launched by the same innings. Both enjoyed immediate success at the international level. One managed to handle it and is regarded as God of cricket. The other did not manage to handle it and is one of the biggest loss of talent in the world of cricket.
Cheers!
Ram

He is really a good cricketer but don't know i think its his bad luck that he didn't make a comeback in this cricket world. I like his records and even almost all the Indians will not forget him because he made that kind of records that is also with Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar. I am really upset because Team India is loosing another one Star of the Cricket.

I too like Vinod Kambli a lot. I expected him to come and bat again along with Sachin again. But it never happened. But I spotted them together outside the cricket stadium which is a very good sign of Friendship. We really missed a very talented guy called Vinod Kambli ever. Yes. he had made many records to prove his talents but he was not able to come back again.

What a numerous records. We should stand and salute for this man. He worked hard for indian team and he is a dedicated player compare to other player in india. Usually he is a calm person and easily admire the people. I am one of the fan for his straight drive six in many of the matches. thank you kambli we all miss you.
