Find it difficult to start discussions!

Yes it can be a task to continue to further ones discussion but if one has the time it becomes easier to do. I don't start many and only do so when I know I have the time before me to dedicate to my own discussion. Although there is no time limit to comment back, one can do so anytime. It is best to next time when they log in to head directly to their previous started discussion and complete it before they start a new one. That is of course a preference but my thinking is that it will allow the members who responded to see that their response was appreciated.

Hi sjvg1976 I have this difficult all the time that's why i have created only few discussion till now but i think i can't be very active on my discussion due to lack of time so i don't create them but i do try be active on other user discussion as much as i can

I have idea for discussions and one day, when life gets back to normal, I will start them. I am like you in that if I don't have time to comment to those who respond I prefer not to start them. I would feel very rude if I had to ignore them all

Hi sj How Are You?? Yes surely it is easy to start discussions here. And yes the most good inspiration for it is our own life. We can have lots of ideas about starting discussions from our daily life incident and surely we can share it here on mylot. About maintaining discussion, well yes its always good to be active on our personal discussions as it is the best way to earn here. Yes sometimes its difficult to be active online but its always next day. We can come later or next day and give comments to all those responses. Nice sharing sj.

it depends on the person who writes. There are many people who have experienced problems and many things and so I create discussions. There are so many things that can turn into a discussion. sometimes it is important to have a little more fancy, or simply describe what we experienced. everyone benefits from what you wrote. nice day!

actually, some newcomers may find it hard to start a new discussion for various reasons. just take me for example, I have been a member of the Mylot though, I am not skilled to do the job through it partly because I am not familiar with the new place and without the help from others. So I think myLot is more than a work with cooperation. Therefore, we here should share our minds as well as sorrow and happiness, and the best way to encourage others or help others is to response to the person who comments on our posts and if someone commented on your post means that someone take care of you and naturally, you should response back, which maintains a polite behavior and support or acknowledgement for others.

I think some of the best discussions are people talking or telling a story that happened. Or possibly something they want people's opinions about. I agree that people on mylot should comment back to the responses. It is always nice to always give a best response to the person that most deserves it.

For myself, i don't actually find it hard to start a discussion. I just discuss what i want to, provided that it's within the guidelines. What i find it hard though, is to search if there have been topics of the same nature.

I will be one of the first to admit, that I love responding to discussion, but find it extremely difficult to start my own. I don't know why when I first started it was a bit easier and even then I didn't feel comfortable starting any, but now it's like I can't find nothing to discuss. My other down fall is that I don't have as much time available to dedicate to mylot, so normally I respond to my friends discussion or when I receive via e-mail the daily log I normally try to respond to those, so that I could at least put in something for the day. But you did bring up a good point, try making discussion about something that occurred on that particular day, I will definitely consider it for the future. Thanks for the advice!!!

HAhah...my friend sjvj I not find any difficulty to start the discussion but now a days find difficulty ton find the time in our house furniture work is started so full day busy in tea, cooking, eating but no sleeping haha...I have lots of idea in my mind if I think about mylot but now no time to think about myself so no chance to think about mylot. haha....have a good night..

hi sj, i am not so eager to start discussion but I like reading almost all topics and love to respond. May be because whatever I have started (immediately joining the site) did not generate more responses. So I am giving some time for myself to know the trend of my lot !

hiii sjvj This is not difficult for fanta lots of funny discussion in funny fanta's mind but time is less. So start only one discussion daily no chance for more.

Looking back think I have seen discussions started without feedback. Some topics are posts but they are not really discussions in fact the comments that string down in a row vary without much connection to each other, except for the original starter topic. As well I have noticed the opposite some with short little blurbs. The real discussions however I have observe often as well where several different views are presented.

hi there sjv! i do really have a hard time starting a discussion. but after reading your discussion i have come to think that you're right. that it's not really hard to start a discussion the problem is how to keep the discussion going. well, i think i was just pressing myself too much of thinking of a good discussion that a lot could respond. that's why i only had one discussion from the whole 2 weeks of stay here in mylot. now, i am thinking of starting a discussion so that a lot could benefit from it. thanks!

That is so true. But the problem many times can be finding the time to respond back to all the discussions that you have started to keep them going. Because when you take the time to respond back that not only keeps the discussion going but helps alert others to where you are paying attention to what others are discussing on here.

Funnily enough, its easy enough to think of potential discussion toppings. However, there are going to be a lot of times where it is going to take a bit to get the wording right. In a way where its short but introduces the topic well. The mix that is going to attract the attention of people, to get them pouring in and responding to the topic at hand. I think that I also try and set aside a day where I can rather monitor the discussions, to respond to the various responses that are put on the discussions. To keep the discussion all nice and active, instead of it living inside a vacuum or something among those lines. It does add some interest to the discussion. Of course this plan tends to really not go as planned all of the time but its the thought that counts.

And one of them is me I find it really difficult to make new discussions. It's like nothing special is happening in my life anymore LOL That or there are times when I'm doing my things minding my own business and then this really interesting topic pops in my head and I think of starting it as discussion once I am online. But when I am online, I can't for the life of me recall what the topic was It is annoying haha! But good to know that you find no trouble starting new discussions

Yeah i totally agree with you mate....discussions for me are difficult to start and to continue a discussion i help it by responding to the discussion but there is no response again on that topic to continue even if the discussion is concluded or not it just stops in the middle....

When I was new, I tried to start two discussions a day, and since I had few friends, it was easy to keep up with them. But later on, when I started getting 20-30 responses on some discussions, I saw that I should not start so many, because I would be so busy commenting back to responses I'd have few chances to read the discussions of others. Right now I have 148 notifications I have not opened yet today,and as I respond, the number keeps getting higher -- not lower. I haven't started a new discussion in two days now, and although I have two ideas, I'm not sure I should use them today. My strategy is to check the emails every day for responses to comment on before doing anything else. When that's done, I start from the bottom with newly posted discussions that don't have too many responses yet. When I get high enough up that they run past a page, I go back to the top of the emails and work down. If the topic doesn't engage me, I skip that discussion and work down. If the topic already has three or more pages of responses, I might skip it because the chances are there's not much new I'll be able to add. The hardest discussions for me to reply to are things shared from daily life that don't ask any questions. I think asking a question or two somewhere in your discussion helps people to think of responses.
