yahoomail vs. gmail security

Last Saturday I changed my password and in the afternoon on that day I opened it but I could not access my account. I was very mad and disoriented because all my online transactions are there. I was really unfortunate, I could not remember the answers to secret questions and I don't have an alternate e-mail address. I contacted Yahoo but I did not get a good response. It is really a lesson to be 100% secured in our business account. What I don't like in my situation is I changed my password for security reasons and then it turned out to be the reason why my account is locked and I could not open it. I do not know If I can still access my account. Now I use gmail account which has more ways to recover an e-mail account. They included mobile phone verification and maybe users can use this to recover account in the future in case of problem.

That's why I use a password manager to manage my online accounts. Without it, it would be very hard for me to recover my passwords, since most of them, I don't remember or even know. The only online account that I do know the password is my Gmail account and I use it as an alternate email so that if something goes wrong and I lost my passwords, then I can just tell my email provider to send me my password to my Gmail.

That is good to hear. I will also try password manager to keep track of all my e-mail accounts. With so many hacker and cheater in the web we should be careful it is not easy to earn money online.

i had the same case as you have that is why i have decided to open an account using gmail. I do not know what was the reason behind our case that we could no longer open our accounts but there is one thing i am sure of. If you create an e-mail add using gmail accounts, you would surely love it. Take it from me. I suggest also that you create another account using yahoo mail but use this account for unimportant matters only and put all your important transactions in your gmail account.

Thanks that is what I am doing now. This is a big a lesson for me, but the good news is I discovered that I could not rely on yahoomail in terms of e-mail recovery because they offer limited options.

There may be more to that. I have seen two or three posts today about yahoo mail not working and being unable to access accounts. I also have seen mention of mail bouncing back and not being sent...this also happened with my husband's account a few days ago, but I had not made the connection until today. And then yesterday when I tried to log into my MSN mail account it had been blocked due to having been hacked into. I was able to go through their recovery system and recover my account along with resetting the password at least. But now I wonder if the events might be connected and there are attacks on the email providers going on? So far my yahoo account is working fine, and I have had no problems with my gmail account, but time will tell. It does sound rather suspicious to be happening so closely together to so many people.....

Thanks for the info. It is really important to be secured in our e-mail account specially if we use it to our transactions. Everybody should learn from my experienced. My online business life is on my e-mail account and now I could not contact some of my affiliates abroad. What I want to share is to be secured online by not just relying in one e-mail account.

yeah i also think that yahoo mail security sucks big time ... they seriouslt need to improve in order to survive .. otherwise other users have the right to join the gmail which has many user friendly features and whose security is also pretty good ..

Actually I love the environment of yahoomail but, because of what happened to my account I discovered that in terms of security gmail is the best. Gmail offers lot of options in case your e-mail account has encountered problems. What I am into now is the security of my account. Gmail may text you in your mobile phone in case you cannot remember your password, answers to secret questions or if you don't have alternate e-mail address. Maybe yahoo has this feature also but they did not maximize the use of mobile phone verification.
