Why is it that Guys Lose Weight easily than Girls do?

I was in the food centre when I saw a guy who has such thin belly. I adore guys like that! Because men with bellies are just so turn off! I observed that Chinese guys are thinner than other races. I saw these guys in the MRT and there's this one who looked a little chubby wore fitting shirt but still with thin abdomen. It was like what the heck! I was working so hard trying to be thin but still has little effects on me. and here, guys get them so easily. Isn't it unfair girls???

Trust me that there are also much obese men that find it hard to lose their weight..

yeah, thanks for the views and for sharing the link...that is the reason i find it unfair because why can't we be the same with them?oh my..sorry for such question...however,I am a bit consoled with the fact that it is still about self-determination...oh my, so hard to lose but easy to gain weight...tsk

I am a man, but I encountered the same issue: so hard to lose but easy to gain weight Well, at least, if I compare the time, Say, I need 2 weeks to lose my weight a bit, but I only need a week to gain my weight back! When I born, I was be a little fatty, so maybe that's the main reason: it is because I used to be fatty :P

I agree it seems unfair. Men do seem to lose weight more quickly than women. I have watched shows like the biggest loser and the men always lost so much more than the women per week. It is understadable if they were more overweight, but even the ones who were not, lost weight faster..I'll have to go research why this is true now that you have made me curious about this.

However, many women still win the biggest loser :). I guess it's really hard to determine who's losing weight more etc. because there are a lot of factors like diet, exercise, discipline, dedication and most of all genetics like how fast your metabolism is.

yeah, I have researched about that case. And yeah you might as well want to research it your own because the reasons I can say are rational you know. Men have less fat content in the body than us women. Us women have hormones that need more fat like for the formation of mammary glands on our boobsies, and for the support of birth on butts... However, it would still depends on some factors like lifestyle, and genetics. Because there rare cases in which guys have bigger butt than us! :) Thanks for sharing your views stary1 and Ghajini.

It's just stupid for fat women to jog on the streets while men can jog without much worry. Girls have to get exercise equipment so they can have exercise indoors.

try a vegetarian diet, that should work for women just as well as for men. I can't remember ever having seen a fat vegetarian woman. There may also be a very few fat vegetarians but that may be due to very onesided alimentation like eating sweets or potato chips all the time.

I think it could solve your prob, yes :-) It may be difficult, that's true, to resist the temptation of meat but once you've achieved it it's really easy. I'm living for about three years now as a vegetarian. Got no problems with proteins or anything now. You just need to make sure that your diet is healthy: not too much sugar and products that contain too much fat, like potato chips for example. As for protein it is just necessary to eat different foods that contain it. I combine wheat (bread)/ oatmeal with pulses such as beans and lentils, it works just fine. I'm not an alimentation expert but there are many diet suggestions for veggies on the net. Perhaps your cousin can give you some advice, too. Btw, I do some serious sports (muscle training etc) and I haven't lost a bit of my strength. Furthermore I've lost a few pounds of fat and I haven't been ill as often as I used to be. Cheers

Thanks for the advise...maybe i can eliminate my meat intake little by little until i can live with it, right? Oh muscle training...would that applicable for women as well?

Oh veggies! I love that but I can't imagine myself being strict against meat, poultry.etc... Do u think that would be the solution to my problem? coz maybe that would be an answer u know. And maybe it is time to change my diet options. However, I have a cousin who is vegetarian who looks chubby but without the belly thing or the love-handles...maybe i should try that too... My dilemma is that our body needs protein. and the main source is meat, fish,etc...the protein we get from tofu,and other plant base is just not enough to cover up with the ones we get from meat... I hope to hear your idea on this. thanks

Yes it is sooo unfair!!! All my guy friends, they eat so much but they never get fat. I mean seriously, it is so unfair. They munch on something all the time but never get fat!!

yeah, it really is unfair..but then I have come to realize what we are worth for...the fat we have on us women is for the reproduction purposes...u know the mammary glands and the fats on our butts for giving birth...lol

it think it has to do with metabolic rates and muscle consentration. women has less muscle tissue and probably more fat. also metabolic rates of men are faster than women.

Maybe it's the metabolism which helps us lose weight more easily. Can't say for sure, but it's true we do use a little more energy than women do, and generally we are taller and heavier making us use more energy for doing simple things like walking.

I think it is other way around, actually I think girls are thin and less belly than guys, because, I see lot of girls with thin belly and guys with a bigger one, and also if girls maintain a proper diet, they will be able to control weight easily, while among men it is very difficult, first of all very hard to maintain diet secondarily, very hard to reduce weight..

hi miessy ahm i can say that being a girl and i am fat also maybe because boys are hard worker , and also there metabolism are fast rather than the us because my boyfriend is thin but he eat many and my brother also , i if i eat many i will be fat fast but if the boys they are not maybe it is because of the metabolism.

I am a guy who used to weigh around 93 kg last year and is currently around 73kg. I went back to the gym like 3 weeks ago, and I focusing on having a better shape and hopefully burn some belly fat so that my abs will be seen and be more defined :). Like I have mentioned earlier, there are a lot of factors and one of them is how fast your metabolism is, which can also depend on genetics however there are ways to speed up your metabolism. I have a cousin who eat a lot and probably could eat more than me, however he is not overweight because he has a fast metabolism which he probably inherited as well from his parents who are according to him was also thin during their teens but just became fat or overweight when they got older. Anyway, don't be frustrated :), just don't give up and be motivated. Set realistic goals, if you really want to lose weight and have a good shape, you need to be really dedicated :). I suggest that you do more cardio work-out, have a good diet, enough sleep, avoid sitting too much and lastly if attainable, eat 5 times a day (divide your meals into smaller portions.) I think guys move are bigger than girls which cost them more energy in the life time So guys are easier lose weight than girls.
