I always wonder what some of my friends here on myLot look like. I always like to put a face to a name. It's always fun to finally see them, and see that they look nothing like you imagined!
So, I decided to put up a photo on my profile of me and my fiance. That way all of my friends here on myLot can finally see what we look like, and put a face to a name.
How about you? Do you like to put a face to a name? Do you wonder what your friends here on myLot look like? Have you seen what some of your friends look like? Did they look how you imagined?

Firstly awwh you both are so cute together! You look like a very happy couple.
I have seen some photos of my friend here but I do like the fact that initially I could not see their picture as I really like the fact that I could see such sincerity in what they personally write to me. In fact I have yet to see a photo of one of my closets friends here and or she of me and neither has asked to see it. I like that because truly I find that during our private messaging we are completely sincere on how we express ourselves with such oneness that someday our images of one another will definitely match what we thought it was.
I think it is usual that we do imagine what people look like based on how they write here if we are not able to see photos of them.
I don't mind at all that members place their photos as it is a preference. For me I kind of like the fact that I do not place photos here as I really like that if someone likes me for me through my writing that the exterior image of me is not important. I guess what I am saying is that I get enough likes because of my exterior looks offline, where as people honestly do not get to know me as the person that I am and only because of the what I look like and or what I can help them with. One of the main reasons I do like myLot as we can be expressive and known for who we really are through our participation's as opposed to offline where people have their likes simply because of how one looks good.

Something like that as I am surrounded by many who looks are primary to how a person really is. Sad really as not all exterior good looking people are good overall people.

Thank you HWG!
I get what your saying. A lot of people judge based on looks or your exterior, instead of getting to know how you are on the inside.
Don't judge a book by it's cover! That's a good phrase, I think.

Yes, I agree. You can be a beautiful woman, but be evil on the inside. Or, you could be "ugly" (as society calls it) and be the kindest person in the world.
You just can't accurately judge how good/bad someone is based solely on their looks. You have to get to know them!

I make it easier still. I place a picture of my last vacations, changing it if I go elsewhere. It´s always me or a background though. I placed once at another site an old picture of myself that my husband liked very much and received a proposal! After that, I´ll just be my age

I do enjoy all your pictures Marguicha of your vacations as they show that you always have a great time.
@justhere, I went on vacation in August and while I was uploading some to send to the family, I realize, oh my I took all the pictures and none of them were of me.

I do not like my picture taken too much. However, I do like to take pictures of others, and things I think are cool or pretty.

hi angelee about a year or so ago mylots dumbdizzyblonde stopped in to Gold C rest to see me and she looked much like I envisioned, and so warm and so lovely her personality. her boyfriend took photos of the two of us, Our photo is in my avatar on my FaceBook account, I am the one with long white hair and am older than Lori. I will be 85 in NOvember. lol so you and all mylot friends are free to see me in Facebook lol. I am not gorgeous but that's okay, I am happy so that's
what counts.lori olsen is the only mylotter I have met face to face and shes one very sweet person too. I have often wondered about a lot of mylot friends here.

I think you have mention that before, and I believe I seen that photo! I think it's very cool that you have met a fellow myLotter in person. That is something not many of us myLotters get to experience!
Your lucky!

I agree, if she didn't tell us her age, I would guess by her participation that she was no older than 40-45!
It is amazing. Not many older people feel like typing on a computer on a site like myLot... most don't even know how to use a computer! Hatley must be in very good health, and young at heart.

Hello Angelee, It's rare that i put my real picture here in mylot, I do have one in the photo gallery but it's kinda inverted. but that's kinda hard to do now because there's a lot of different trolls roaming around the secret tunnels and sewers of mylot, rating people negative mercilessly. so, for now, i don't think it's a good idea to reveal myself and people know me already

Better to be safe than sorry!
I didn't think about how uploading a photo of yourself could get you a negative rating. That's ridiculous!

I do wonder what some of my friends look like, but mostly I don't care. That is not to say that it would not be nice to see them, especially face to face, and find out what they look and act like. I just don't think it is that important to be able to see their face to communicate with them, and their words mean much more than a picture of them. On the other hand, I always appreciate a picture of a good-looking person, especially of the male persuasion.

You know what, I was thinking about this some more, and I think that it would be nice to see what many of them look like, but only if we can see their mannerisms as well as their face, which really isn't possible in a picture. When I am interacting with my friends, I often envision them reading and relying - the way they look, how they are saying things, whether they are laughing or upset, etc.
When I read something that Lamb has written, for example, I can picture very well what he looks like when he is saying it, because he has done videos and put them up on here. I can picture a few others as well ... not because I have seen their actual faces but because I have interacted with them enough that I feel I really know them, so I can imagine how they react. It would be nice if I could see whether or not I was right. Of course, with at least one of them some day I will find out for sure, but it will be a while before that happens.

I agree. It's not that important, because it's their words, personality, opinions and views, etc... that is important and show who they are.

before i used to never put my real photo anywhere but then a friend of mine asked me what the fear
i don't care that much whether someone puts there photo or not because here because all i care about is what there share with us
but yeah i do get curious if we get to see the real person to whom we are talking to
Maybe some things its better not to upload our photo and some don't even thing what's the harm in uploading your real pic

in my first months in mylot, i put my picture in here. for me, it was no big deal. then i read about an issue that i feel strongly about - extrajudicial killings in the philippines. and one way of putting the issue across and mainstreaming it is to show it to mylot as profile pic. until now, i still have it since it still continues in the country. i appreciate my friends who put their pictures in mylot.

Well, I think that is great that you have such a meaningful profile photo. I think it is always good to support things that you feel strongly about.
I like my avatar that I have, and don't plan on changing it. That is why I put my photo in my HTML sortie on my profile.

You and your fiance make a great couple! You can tell you make each other happy. I was hesitant to put my picture on my mylot profile but did it anyway. This is a social network after all. We have tons of pics on facebook so why not let others see what you look like here. I hope one day to make and meet friends from mylot. Everyone seems so nice here and I always enjoy my time spent here.

So far I have not come across any rudeness or negative behavior. I guess I must be lucky. I know it's just a matter of time though. Hopefully, it will not bother me too much.

The majority of people here are very kind, helpful, and caring. On occasion, you'll run into a rude person, or someone who just wants to argue. But, it's quite rare on here.
I absolutely love myLot, and I think it is by far the best online community!

You should upload a profile photo, whether it be an avatar like mine, or a photo of you. I think it helps people remember you if you have a photo to go by.

Sometimes, I do wonder how some of mylot pp look like. And at times, I wld check out their profiles. Btw, I checked out yours soon after I joined mylot, when I first responded to your discussion.

Yes, I too think it's quite normal. As there is really no way to correctly invision someone in our minds.

I agree. The inner person is most interesting. It's fascinating to me to see how different we all are in our personalites and backgrounds, yet we have so much in common in how we feel about things in our lives.

absolutely right, to show your photo here is to show your honesty and your friendship to others. Therefore, I have posted my photo on the myLot site when I became a member for the first time here. However, some argue that it is not safe to show their photos here because it is a part of their private issues. And they hold the idea that what if others abuse their photos to do something illegally. so how do you think of this?

Personally, I am willing to take the risk... and post my photo for people to see. I don't really care if my photo is shown to everyone, because it's not a bad photo.
I've had my photos on sites like FaceBook, MySpace, etc. and nothing has ever really happened.

My photo is on so many sites I write on that there's no sense in trying to keep it a secret. Because I'm in business on line, I think people feel more comfortable when they see a real picture of a real person instead of a Faceless screen. I think that's especially true if you are a small business instead of a well-known large website. Since I actually have met some of my customers in person before I went on line, I want them to be able to identify me and connect me with my booth where they met me.

I have seen your profile picture and i must say, you and your fiance, look good.
It's really nice if the one you are interacting with at Mylot has their picture as their profile ID .
I for myself, have my real picture for my avatar. But sometimes, i feel like i am in the mood for an avatar so i do change it once in a while. It also feels good to be mysterious sometimes.
Though, i am used to interacting with friends on their avatars already. But i do remember them by their suername. So when they change avatar, i still knew it's them.
