this is my question. why does everyone who doesnt own or know a rott assume they are unpredictable or mean?
i have a rott puppy that is 10 months old, and before him i have had other rotts and none of them have ever snapped, or been unpredictable in anyway. i mean my pup play bites but never to be mean. when i walk him people switch sides of the road or go out of their way to say away from him.
i have uploaded a pic of him... what looks mean about this dog that would scare someone enough for them to try and stay away.

I've never thought of them as mean or scary. I think people are sometimes afraid of them just because they have that "tough dog" look to them. We used to have one and he was a sweetheart. Now we have a pitbull/boxer mix and a mini dachshund. As a dog lover, I'm not afraid of a certain dog breed. The dogs that have a bad reputation are only that way because of their owners and the way they were brought up. I'd only be afraid of a dog if it gave me an actual reason to be scared of it lol

not everyone but alot of people are that way. maybe they have had a bad experience or know someone that has. Rotty's and pitt's get a bad rap because of people that train them to fight and the media has a frenzy every time something does happen. It is sad because I have known so many of these breeds that are labled unpredictable or mean and they were gentle giants. big loveable babies.
