I don't know if it's a good thing or not, but I have a cross-bred dog. He is half Labrador and half Rottweiler. I want him to be as big as the rottweiler but he is little compared to the full bred ones. So I'm hoping maybe he can be as cuddly as Labradors are but he is not. Haha! Luckily, he has the attitude of rottweilers, very playful and full of energy! and he knows to obey commands though he is not yet trained by a professional dog trainer. We named him as "Tapee".

Rotties and labs both have very friendly, playful temperaments. Both tend to be loyal and protective to good, kind masters as well. If you give the dog the proper basic training, potty training, behavior control, etc and treat the dog love and respect, then the dog will not only love and cuddle and be wonderful to you, he'll also defend you with his life if necessary. I always prefer mixed breeds overnpure breeds, myself. They tend to costmless, for starters. But also, less chanceof inbreeding, which you can get with a bad breeder, and that can cause some issues for the dog.

I agree, if you really treat your dog as a human, they'll treat you back as family of their own also. I heard and read many stories about hero dogs, how they have rescued their owners and loved them as well. Every time I finish reading and hearing the story, Em very pleased and happy because I'm really fond of dogs. I'm just really hoping that my dog Tapee will be like them. hehe! It seems like you know very much about dogs, do you have a dog also? how many?

I have one right now. She's a mixed breed and no one can figure out what she is. But she's sweet and loving and playful, and we absolutely adore her.

There really aren't any issues that I can think of regarding having a mixed breed dog. Plus I think that there are many dogs that are not full breed. Labs seem to be in the mix with many dogs. As for the temperament of your dog every dog is different. Also there are many factors that will attribute to the temperaments of dogs. Plus you have referred to your dog as "dog" does that mean that you got him as he was a bit grown and not right from removal from mom? And did you see the parents. Sometimes they carry behaviors from the parents. But I would just be happy with him as he is. I have a pit-bull and she is adorable and just as sweet as she can be loves all animals and people. very Very obedient. And she has never been to a trainer but you would swear she did.

Hello Niceetee and welcome to myLot! I think it doesn't matter if a dog is purebred or crossbred dog. All it matters is to be healthy and to well trained. This will make you both happy. All the Rottweilers I know aren't full of energy at all! They may be energetic as puppies but in adulthood they tend to be calm and stately. Labradors, on the other hand, seem to be forever puppies, they are full of energy until they become old. So probably Tapee got something for both breeds. Why don't you share some photos of Tapee to see what has he got from the two breeds?
