Do you still answer a discussion even if the author has already given a best response?
I do because even if they can't give me the best response they will still be interested in what I have to say and I feel that I can still give something to the discussion for the author of the discussion or for people who come along to read after me.

If I see a discussion I am interested in and it already has a best response selected; I usually read all responses and comments before I respond. I want to make sure I am not repeating and would only respond if there is something different and or additionally I can respond to. If not then I most likely would not.
I have also gone through the comment boxes and if there is something there I feel I can add as well, in which I have.

Yeah it can happen as some members do respond from their email alerts and do not view the discussion first. I do view the discussion first before placing my response. It actually helps to further it more if I can add to the comments.

I think I should do it too. I have this problem one time, because I prefer to read the comments after I gave my response. But, one time, I saw that is an answer very similar to my own. I got very dissapointed with myself.
I will try to change, but not for discussions with a best response. I will try to do it in everyone in the future. Happy mylotting.

I normally prefer answering questions that are asked on the day I am answering. Mostly I prefer new ones appearing on the Home page. I take note of the discussion and if I am capable of answering it, I choose and answer the same. Very rarely do I go for resolved discussions and answer them. Once I came across the oldest discussion in mylot started some 5 years back and I though it prestigious to answer the same. If the topic is interesting then it is good we answer even in respect of resolved discussions.

Whenever I find a discussion I can relate too and a discussion I can respond to, I do not mind if the best response is awarded already or even if the discussion is several years old. I just go ahead and respond to it. There are days when I just do not find discussions to respond to but if I happen to find any then those things d not prevent me from responding to them.

Many of us included me still take part in such discussion
the common discussion where if the best response is already been given
such as something related to computer there i usually don't take part if the discussion starter has got the post he was looking for but still if there there is some other easy way to solve the problem i give my views too
mostly it depends on the topic it there is something more to add then i do say it but if there isn't much more to say we just pass by

Personally I still do, I really don't care to much for best response, I prefer to participate in a discussion in which I find the topic to be of interest. I like to be able to express my point of view and thoughts in discussions, even if I don't get best response or a best response has already been issued.

I usually don't. Then I go back and end up answering it if it is interesting and if I have something interesting to say. And interesting discussion is fun, its the ones that are silly or trivial that I don't bother with. And some of the foreign that I don't really understand.

I don't have that kind of patience and probably wouldn't go to that extent.

Hi Anne my new friend,
yes I response to a discussion after given BR reward. But the author should wait for more answer before giving 'best response'.

I think it depends on your discussion title as to how long you let your disscusion run before you give a BR, some discussions need ot run for quite a few days, others just a few days, you can normally tell from the discussion title and hoe long it takes people to respond to your discussion when you should start thinking about giving a BR

Honestly I don't!For me it's useless since they have chosen the best response for their topic already. My response would never be given a chance to be the best or given credit even if mine was more meaningful, accurate, significant, realistic and powerful. Thanks!

Maybe if the answer wasn't given justice but the poster already chosen the BR. But most of the time, I don't do that. I don't want to waste my time on discussions that has great answers by members. Time is gold, I only post for sure topics here that will also not be deleted.

Yes I always answer discussions even if the author has awarded the best answer. This is because I am interested in a particular topic to which I feel I can add something of substance and not just worry about being awarded the best response. In fact I answer discussions just as I go and never think about the award.Sometimes I am pleasantly surprised when I see the best response has been awarded to me in some discussion which I have forgotten all about.Whenever I spot a discussion which I can relate to and contribute my ideas to,I answer them in detail.I enjoy doing this here and have been doing so since the time I joined this community.

I sometimes will respond to discussions in which the best response has already been decided, especially if I like the subject of the discussion or if I still wish to be supportive of the person who started the discussion.

Yes, I still do if I feel I have the need to add in something to that discussion. After all we all get paid for what we type and not for best response. And usually I will start reading from the first box till the end and see if there is anything that I can add to the comments being posted.

Yes I do too. I just like to express myself when I find the right discussion for me. Or if I have some knowledge in that topic.

Of course I will. I am not in it for the competition, I am in it to express my opinion. Just because it's been "resolved" so to speak, doesn't mean I don't still have an opinion.

If the topic is something of interest to me, I will respond to a discussion whether a best response has be selected or not. I worry more about getting my say on a subject than whether I get a best response or not. I agree with you that the discussion starter would still be interested in my response even if it is a little late.

Yes I do too. Even if mine is not the best at least I am able to share my point and who knows it might be useful to others too. :-)

Yes,I do.
If the topic is really good and I can relate with,I still write my opinion even if the topic starter already choose one for the best response.
It's not the best response that matters to me but my opinion.
I never response to every topic my friend started...because there are topics that my friend starts which I cannot relate with.
So,when I wrote my response,it is because I want to response to that topic.

I think the object of the site has always been participation - participation in discussions. And users here shouldn't let a BR which has already been awarded, let them stop them from conitinuing to participate.
I don't let it stop me. And I would also like to think that posters are also interested in what I want to contribute.

yes i do, especially when i have really something good to share.
well i think it is not just because of the "best response holder" that we should be after for every discussion. because people vary from their opinions. what i am after for is for my opinion to be heard also by the starter of the discussion. which i agree with you Anne.
