There is nothing honest or ethical about the UAW representing Ford employees.

Since the UAW owns a substantial percentage of GM, there is nothing honest or ethical about the UAW representing Ford employees. When the people who work at Ford go into negotiations, they are literally being represented by the competition. GM has no reason to care if Ford lives or dies as a company, in fact, they have every reason to work towards Ford failing. No member of the UAW (leadership or member) can honestly claim that there is nothing wrong with this blatant conflict of interest. To accept this is to show that they have no scruples whatsoever. We already knew the leadership of the UAW was nothing but criminal scum, but this shows how slimy most the workers are too.

I know the last thing I'd want is to be represented by my competition in negotiations. Of course I'd rather not have a union to deal with in the first place.

Exactly! Every UAW member that doesn't speak out against the competition's ownership representing them is complicate in this conflict of interest.

The Ford Employees need to pull out of the UAW because they are not going to look after their best interest either. This is just insane.

I agree. If I were the Ford employees, I'd be wanting to get out of the UAW.

I agree with this one. After all, Ford was the only car company that did not take a government bail out. I used to work for ford, not in the factory but in the Ford owned dealership in Manhattan. I enjoyed my time there. But I was never in the union because I was in management. I think if the companies showed some loyalty to the workers like the Japanese do, there would be no need for unions. I also agree that most unions are run by a criminal element.

The non-union car companies in the south are quite loyal to their employees. They don't need unions. In today's world, I don't think anyone needs unions. We're all smart enough to negotiate for ourselves. And consumers are smart enough to not do business with jerks.
