i read some article that talk about air pollution, it's say that Medan is a city with the highest pollutant in Indonesia with PM10 levels of 111 mikrogram/m3. Field was ranked the 59th city with the highest air pollutant from the 1082 cities surveyed. The next rank is the rank-Surabaya on the 128 with levels of PM10 by 69 mikrogram/m3. Followed by Bandung in rank to the levels of PM10-192 with 51 mikrogram/m3. Jakarta ranked as the 238 with levels of PM10 by 43 mikrogram/m3. The last city in Indonesia which is the WHO surveyed ranked Pekanbaru-1001 with PM10 levels of 11 mikrogram/m3, or equal to several cities in Canada and the United States such as Edmonton, Honolulu, Quebec, and better than Sydney which ranks the -992 with the level of PM10 is 12 mikrogram/m3. so guys, what do you think about this?? i think jakarta's air is very bad. every morning i go to office, i see dark cloud (when i think before) but actually that was motor vehicle fumes. too bad.

Somehow I didn't believe this report, specially for Jakarta. Why? These my reason: First, Jakarta one of the biggest city in Indonesia. These cosmopolitan city, it mean Jakarta never sleep. There must be a lot pollution in here by transportation. We also know that Jakarta is one of biggest industrial city in Indonesia. It must a joke if someone told that industry not involved in pollution. Secondly, This report not telling us when research made of. If the research made on Idul Fitri preiod, it's possible (Jakarta little bit empty). But if the research not made on in this period, somehow I believe Jakarta is highest pollutant in Indonesia.

The real problem is went the research is made of. (At this point I saw collusion between researcher and local official)

This is proof that our government gives less attention to the impact of forest fires every year our country is hit by forest fires, which are not only detrimental to human health directly or indirectly is immediate, will clearly have an impact on respiratory disease .. indirectly, the threat of global warming are getting close because the government's inability to handle the case of forest fires

Air pollution is the main problem we are facing now a days but the required measures are not yet started. As we all are well experienced and well known problem that we are going to face many problems form the pollution. Many people are dying and is being effected by this pollution. If the government takes the possible decisions, and helps in stopping the increase in pollution we can give life to next generations if not ourselves are killing our lives. so even scientist and inventors are requested to get the good measures for the better life.

We are all in this together because from I understand the earth is round. Everyone has to do something in better direction or it will just get worse and not better. I think I read the little motors on scooters are smaller but worse on expelling pollutants. On the whole (earth) if we produce smaller motors but a lot more of them we will still get worse results. Electric scooters on the other hand are quiet, go quick and kind of sexy - you think?

You are right about that even some months back i get to know that population is the main source of ambient air pollution in Jakarta , which has 10 million people. It is larger than any other municipality in Indonesia with 15,000 people per square kilometer. According to the statistics Central Agency, the numbers of vehicles in Kakarta in 2003 was 3.4million motorcycles,1.99 million passenger cars,467,000 trucks, and 392,000 buses. That Increase the Oil Fuel consumption in 2003 oil fuel used was 68% of total energy consumption. While in 2004-2005 the demand for gasoline in jakarta Increases, Resulting to increase in air pollution. I really think is Really bad for the good of the citizens. I think the government should see to that .
