My favorite holiday is Christmas. Though I am not a religious person I love this time of the year. I like the colder weather because I can snuggle up with my fiancee and watch it snow. I love Christmas because it's one of the times where my family gets together and spends time together. The presents are nice too, though they are not really that important. I just find it nice to wake up on Christmas morning and wonder what is under the tree. The mystery of it is pretty awesome. I also find it nice to throw on my boots and coat and me and my fiancee head over to my family's house for Christmas dinner. The food is amazing. So many different types of food. My mom makes the best brown sugar pineapple ham ever, and I love it when my uncle makes little smoked sausages. He buys them and puts them in his Crock-Pot and pours some Bar-B-Que sauce on them. He stirs it and then lets them cook for a couple hours. They taste amazing. I don't see my family a lot so it's nice to see them on Christmas. It's a really happy and joyful time of the year. I'm really looking forward to Christmas and I can't wait.
Do you have a favorite holiday? If so what do you like about it? What makes it your favorite holiday?

My favorite holiday is Christmas as well, for almost the same reasons as you.
I LOVE the cold weather! It feels so good snuggling up under blankets! You just can't do that in the summer, you would burn up! And, I hate sweating, especially when I am trying to relax or sleep!
Also, I love buying presents for people (mainly you) and seeing the surprise on their face! It's priceless! I'm more of a giver than a receiver. I get more excited about giving gifts than receiving them... I must be crazy!

I love snuggling up (with you) too. You're not crazy, that's just how you are. I'm not very good at buying gifts for people. I love sleeping in the colder weather. It's so much easier to relax and I fall asleep much easier. I hate sweating while trying to sleep, and I hate waking up sweaty.
You really do surprise me, but that's a good thing. :) I hope the colder weather hurries up and gets here. I'm ready to snuggle.

Weeeee! Me too!
I am tired of keeping the window open with the fan on all night! I want it to be cold without it!

Me too. I want it to just be really cold so I can put my sweat pants on and cuddle up beside you. It feels really good and I wouldn't want to spend my time doing anything else. Plus we can save power in the winter lol.

Yea. I love it for the same reasons. Around Christmas my family is always nicer and the love is so strong it's just amazing. The lights are really nice and I like to help decorate. The gifts are nice as well but the main thing I love about Christmas is spending time with my loved ones.

Being a highly spiritual country, festivals are at the heart of people’s lives in India. The numerous and varied festivals that are held throughout the year offer a unique way of seeing Indian culture at its best. So choosing one as favorite is very diffucult task....I'll still choose 2 of the main festivals we celebrate in nothern india...
Diwali is a five day festival that represents the start of the Hindu New Year. It's known as the "Festival of Lights" for all the fireworks, small clay lamps, and candles that are lit during the celebrations. These lights are said to represent the victory of good over evil, and brightness over darkness. The candlelight makes Diwali a very warm and atmospheric festival, and it's observed with much joy and happiness.
Diwali is one of the most important cultural festival in India and it’s also my favorite festival. We celebrate Diwali because it’s a significant part of our heritage. Diwali is the day when King Rama's coronation was celebrated in Ayodhya after victory over Ravana in the epic war.
I celebrated Diwali with my family and friends. I picked this festival because I thought Diwali is the most enjoyable festival that I can remember and it is the festival of lights. I had so much fun and I like Diwali very much.
Holi is a two day festival that also celebrates the victory of good over evil, as well as the abundance of the spring harvest season. It's commonly referred to as the "Festival of Colors". People exuberantly throw colored powder and water all over each other, have parties, and dance under water sprinklers. Bhang (a paste made from cannabis plants) is also traditionally consumed during the celebrations. Holi is a very carefree festival that's great fun to participate in if you don’t mind getting wet and dirty.

WOW! I never knew that the holidays in India were so meaningful. They sound really fun and enjoyable. I would love to know more about your culture and your holidays. Diwali and Holi both sound like very great and exciting holidays and I am glad that you have fun while celebrating them.

I have to say that i like the Christmas time as well. Family gets together and celebrates and has a wonderful time together and spending time together is great and bonding as well. I like seeing the children being happy and excited when family comes over with more presents for them to open up as well. It may or may not be cold outside since i live in Florida it has its comes and goes and its always nice outside and riding around seeing lights is great too and fun as well.
The dinner is uually always good and enjoyable as well. We all like getting prsents as well but i also like the shopping of christmas presents as well and that always fun too and getting things for the kids always excites me too.

I don't know if Christmas would be the same for me without the cold weather. I'm used to a cold Christmas and it's natural for me. I lived in Tennessee when I was around 10 and I remember one year it snowed so much that the snow was pretty deep. My Uncle, aunt, and two cousins got snowed in when they came to visit.

I really had to think about this and have decided on Mother's Day. It is the only holiday that is really no stress for me. and on top of it I get gifts. It is low key, usually BBQ at my parents. My hubby let's me sleep in, and i get woken up by my daughter who wants to cuddle. I have no dishes to do, food to make...no responsibilities. It is kind of nice.

I would have to agree with you, Christmas my favorite holiday of them all. It's a time, when everyone comes together as a family. I am hispanic, so our big day of celebration is the night before "Christmas Eve" we normally have Pork (Lechon) with yuca, plaintains, black beans and rice or what we call moro or sometimes we have baked ham with glazed pineapple. Just the sound of all the food is making me hungry.
Now that I am a mother of two, I especially love this holiday more. I love getting woken up in the morning by them asking us to hurry up becasue they wanted to see what Santa has left for them and seeing the expressions on their faces full of excitement when they open their gifts, that for me is the biggest gift of them all and what makes this holiday my favorite one.

Christmas is my favorite holiday too. It has nothing to do with cold and snow, though, because my best Christmases were spent in the heat of FL and TX. I love celebrating the birth of Jesus, in church and in the community. I love the giving spirit that everyone has during that time of year.

For me Christmas is cold weather and possibly snow, but that's not the main thing. I love the time spent with my family. I am not a religious person so I don't celebrate it as the birth of "Jesus". I do respect your religion though. I love the feel of Christmas, the joy and happiness only comes that time of the year. It's wonderful and I can not wait until Christmas.

I think that Christmas is my favourite holiday too, for a number of reasons. I love the way that you can see all of the family that you haven't seen for very much for a long time, and it is lovely to be able to do this. I like the way that everybody is full of love at that time of year and that is wonderful to see because you know what people are like during the rest of the year. All of the food is an added bonus, and I am lucky that my Father will cook for us. I love to be able to buy presents for the people who I love, as it gives me the chance to show them just how much they mean to me at that time of year.

Seeing the love in all of my family is something I rarely get to see. I know they love one another but Christmas really brings it out in everyone. In my family, My mom and my grandma are the main cooks. My uncle brings some things over as well. I love the environment and how everybody is happy. Like you said, We all know how family is the rest of the year.

Like you, Christmas is my favorite holiday. I love the joy expressed by most of the people this time of the year. It's also a time when people remember their fellow man the most, in addition to being a religious holiday. This holiday enables me to get in touch with the kid within myself. Although the weather is cold, the snow coming down is also very beautiful. I remember times when I was a kid, I used to love to stick out my tongue to catch the snowflakes falling from the sky.

Ah, The food is unlike any other time of the year. We only have certain foods around Christmas so I enjoy it and it tastes so great. I can relate to the snuggling as well. I love to cuddle with my fiancee when the weather is nice and cold.

Yes. People seem to be nicer around that time of the year. I've never really been caroling before. I was more into just spending time with family. I'm so excited I can't stand it. I want to see the snow so bad.

Just like you, i like the Christmas holidays the most. It gives us a longer vacation from our work. It is the best time of the year, where people seem to be so generous and kind with one another, giving and exchanging gifts.
It is the holiday , where everyone is on the festive mood. There are office parties, to attend. Foods abound in those parties, specially on Christmas day.
Most of all, i like it because for us Catholics, it's the birthday of Jesus and in addition, of our only child.

Yes. I love how everyone is in a great mood around the holidays. It's just so awesome to see everybody smiling and having fun. There is great food, gifts, and lots of love that is spread. It must be pretty cool for your child to have been born on Christmas, and I'm sure you like the longer vacations.

Helo HB,
We get only a day's off for Christmas in India but the Missionary Schools here get a holidays of at least 10 days. Since my children are there, they really make the whole vacation filled with fun. They also get holidays for our traditional festivals like Diwali, Dushera etc. What we enjoy most is an unplanned trip to a nearby places as holidays. The trips made for a wedding at a distant place or going to my mother's place are also fun.
