What excuse do you usually give when you can't attend a party?

This usually happens to me because my parents are somewhat strict in letting me attend a party. They have to know everything - as in the people who will attend, where the party will be, what time will I go and go back home, who will bring me back home, etc. So most of the time, I end up not attending. :) In these instances, I guess it's safest answer to tell the truth that my parents didn't allow me. What about you? Do this happen to you too?

Going or attending parties or gimiks with friends are normal things to do when growing up because its part of it, socializing is part of maturing but we cannot blame our parents if they are strict in deciding whether you go there or not, they are just being protective that nothing will happen to you. Well, me? I am not obliged to attend or whatsoever so I just say sorry and just tell them to have a nice and enjoyable day...^_^

I don't give fabricated excuses. Whatever is the reason for my inability to attend any party I just give the real reason. I don't think I should ever lie at all. If my parents would not want me to attend then I'd tell my friends exactly this same reason. I think in everything we should just tell the truth to avoid being tagged as liar.

I just nicely say that I'm very sorry as I'm unable to go on that day/evening (or whatever), as I don't feel obliged to have to give a reason. I'll back it up with promising to get together with the partyholder at a later date.

I usually say to my friends that Im busy with my business that would be my most common excuse. Its hard to always party around when your parents are doing what they can to earn money.

as a young person and student, attending party is part of growing up, learning and enriching experience and social networking. i am fortunate that my parents understand this. well, if i were in your place, i would seek the support of other persons in authority to allow me to attend. for example, if the party is sanctioned by school, a teacher can help you. if the party is in friend's house, the parents of that person can help you explain the importance of the party. goodluck.

If I don't want to go to a party for some reason, then it is normally because I have been very busy and am therefore tired. I will tell the truth if this is the case, because people should respect the fact that people are busy in their lives and that they don't have the energy to be able to go to parties all of the time. If I have another reason for not being able to go, such as having something else already arranged for example, then I will tell them the truth because they have been kind enough to invite me to their party so they deserve the truth about why I can't attend, really.
