My 11 year old has decided he wants a telescope for Christmas. The problem is I dont know anything about telescopes. I dont want to buy something cheap and let him see what he wants to look at clearly but on the other hand I dont want to spend an arm and a leg on something too advanced for him. He wants to look at the moon, stars, and planets mainly. So here are my questions: Which is better- reflector or refractor? Is a larger "aperture" better than a smaller one? What is a good "focal range"? Can you recommend a good telescope? Where do you buy telescopes? Thanks for any and all help (BTW he will be wanting a microscope for his birthday in April so I will be asking about those later LOL)

A Telescope is a reverse theory of Microscope.... if you have a cheap binoculars, try to look something beside you buy using binoculars in reverse mode....
