With all the talk in the news about Perry's mistake in the latest GOP debate over immigration and giving in state tuition to the children of illegal aliens (note I did not say immigrants....there is a difference, at least in my opinion), my question is did that change your opinion of him as a viable GOP contender for the primary run and nomination? How important is the immigration issue to you in the next election?
While I agree that it is not as important as our economy and the current state of unemployment, I can't help but say that it actually is important. If you think about it, the number of illegals in the country that are at this point either getting federal and / or state aid, as well as taking jobs away from legal citizens IS in truth affecting both the economy and the jobs market. So how did this change your opinion about the candidate and the issue? And if it did not, then why?

I was leaning toward Perry because of his claim about jobs in Texas but after he was giving instate tuition to illegal immigrants for college over others and the way he handled the gardasil really changed my mind. I remember back in the 60's when the people from Mexico came to Nebraska to hoe sugar beats, beans and potatoes. They came for the summer made a good bit of money then went back. I did some of that work and it is a very hot job. Some of the farmers tried to get high school kids to do it but it didn't work out. kids wanted to play. How things have changed. I also don't like undocumented people getting state or federal aid. And now Obama is going around congress to keep them here.
