my face has been breaking out terribly lately. it would be a last resort to start wearing foundation and concealer again, but i may have to. it is that bad. anybody know what else i could do to really fix my problem instead of just covering it up?

Hi birdie! Yeah, I think it would be better to treat the acne itself than just covering it with make-up. There are a lot of products out there for treating it. I've read that witch hazel toner can help. Also, facial cleansers that has Tea Tree Oil extracts, I've heard that it treats acne/pimples. There are also some Chinese facial creams which I think also works. People in my country use the Chin Chun Su, a popular facial cream widely used by my parent's generation (I've just read in the internet that it's not from China but from Taiwan). Anyway, when you use it, just make sure to include the neck because it can make your skin lighter. If you want, you may also try homemade remedies. I saw this video on YouTube about a homemade toner (made of lemon, green tea, sake/rice vinegar & aloe vera) which helps in treating acne and skin discolorations. Here's the link (note, NOT a referral link whatsoever): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sm0pN8OM3gc Anyway, I guess it's okay if you must cover it up with make-up, but just make sure to always wash you face before going to sleep. Although I've mentioned above to use cleansers with Tea Tree Oil extracts, you may also wanna use a gentle cleanser such as Cetaphil. It's what I use on my baby's face when she had prickly heat on her forehead. I just noticed that her face is so flawless and so I started using it myself and did notice an improvement on my skin. Hope this hepls!

hmm...very interesting. i was afraid to use that chin chin su stuff because it seemed dangerous. i have really sensitive skin. plus my skin is already very pale which is kind of a bad thing for my race. i really don't need to get any lighter skinned. the cetaphil may not be a bad idea though

Yeah don't use the Chin Chun Su. Just use the Cetaphil. Or you may also try Oilatum

Oh, I take back my suggestion on Chin Chun Su coz I've just read that it's not so good. I think Cetaphil would be much better coz it's mild :)

I would go to a dermathologist so that he/she can give you the right products for your skin. My granddaughter even has to use special soaps. Covering only produces more problems as the pores are filled with unwanted products.

My granddaughter went to a dermathologist. The doctor saw what was good for her skin. She also shecked her hormones. I would not give you the name of her soap even if I knew it because it could make it worse. Do go to a doctor.

use non-comedogenic make-up so that it won't block your pores and it's also for sensitive skin. It would help you avoid getting more breakouts and ease the redness of your skin. Also try medicated make-up that specifically treats pimples. Also if you have red bumps, use a green concealer. I know it sounds weird but it actually complements the redness of your skin, and it makes it less red.

Wearing makeup may actually make your problem worst. Just clean your face at least twice a day. Don't just splash your face with water though, make sure that you actually lightly rub the cleanser to remove excess oils. Don't touch your face or lessen it. Bring oil blotter with you to remove excess oil.
