Just saw the first glimpses of Windows 8 Metro.. quite impressed, I should say.

Just yesterday, I got this news of Microsoft having spoken about the release in the near future of the next iteration of their Windows OS in the shape of Metro. As I read, it supports touch screen interfaces more than non-touch ones. Well, of course, we are moving to a more touch-screen world, so that's not a problem. From the basic desktop screen, I could say that everything is now drastically different form what they used to be in even Windows 7. No taskbar with the familiar Start logo is there now, nor is the aesthetic sidebar which had proved to be a pain in Vista because of the affected performance, but quite useful in Windows 7. Though I use the touch-creen interface for my mobile every day, yet I kind of find it hard to visualize how the same will work for monitors of PCs. But that's how new things should be.. unpredictable, and surprisingly delightful when it reaches you. But I'm also a programmer, and I don't know how well the previous versions of say, Java platform or Oracle will perform there. But all that remains to be seen when it finally hits the market. So what are your views on this new installation of Windows? Feel free to share with me.

Actually it has been months already, since a leaked version of windows 8 was released on the web. However, it seems neither all the major features nor it can be considered a release candidate, the ones people have are simply leaked version. Anyway, I totally agree that windows 8 seems to be awesome, especially that they have made it a touch-friendly OS since it will be the OS of windows tablets that are coming next year as well. Nevertheless, I am not that eager to try it at all since I kinda change already. I mean, I used to be the guy who loves the latest stuffs like new OS but now, I just simply prefer performance over aesthetics.
