Why Are You Not Commenting Back To The Responses In Your Discussions?

I always come across discussions whereby the discussion starter never comment back to the responses they get on their discussions. So being a nice person, I always do them a favour by commenting back to some of the responses that I feel I have something that I can add on to, just so I can get the discussion going. And I know there are some myLotters who would do the same too.
To all discussion starters,
You do check back on those responses, don't you?
Don't you know that you don't earn anything for not commenting back to those responses?
Why are you letting go of a great opportunity to earn on myLot?

ME?? Ya know I always have lots and lots to say. I always comment to all my responders and continuously check the discussions that I do start as sometimes the notifiers do not come through.
The only thing I can say is that some simply feel they can earn from the responses. I have seen many new and older users who advise that all the members have to do is start many discussion and respond to other discussions. There are many times that no matter how much we explain the untruth to this they get upset and say they are not here for earnings. While some on the other hand finally do get with the program and get busy as myLot intended for discussions to flow here. So it is worth it for me and several others as yourself to continuously add quality content to the responders in many of the boxes, even if it is not our discussions so that perhaps the discussions stater sees what they are missing out on.

I would not be enjoying my time here if I was simply posting and not interacting. I would feel like I am talking alone. I look forward to our back and forth daily here. I am also grateful for mysd as well as she showed me the ropes here with furthering discussions. I remember she use to call it chain ganging.

Hi HWG
I know you are always a hardworking girl. Just looking at the numbers next to your name tells it all.
Yes, there are still members who thinks that they will earn from responses. But at least some already know how the system works here. And of course there are some of us who just like to crash in on others discussion just to show them how it's done. And also I learned all these from you and the rest of the senior members and I must say that I am really enjoying myself.

May be they only like too hear our view and feel awkward to share there with us
or just too lazy to reply back
or didn't know that we don't earn anything for starting a discussion unless we reply back
many reason but there is nothing we can do other than inform them
reply or not replying lies under there hand

We can do that also but how many discussion we can consider as our own
there are thousands of them started every day
we can surely comment on some on else post when we like to but it not necessary to reply to each one of those

I don't seem to start discussions anymore but I do like commenting on others posts. I like the banter that usually gets started when the discussion starts to get boring.
Maybe the ones that are always starting discussions and never coming back to answer comments has not been informed that they could earn more by doing so. Maybe they have said all they know about the subject. Maybe they have heard the rumor that the more they start the more they earn, but have not heard how to earn. No one has told them about the "You type you earn, I type I earn".
Or maybe they are just making a statement.

There are four types of discussion starter-
* Reply back to all comments they have instantly.
* Will wait for a while ( the next day, a week or more) and only then they will reply. If they got many responses they will just select which they want to reply and leave the rest behind as they tend to feel lazy to comment anymore because they have just started new topic to be discussed.
* Will not reply back any of them as they might think they will earn for every response they have and that's it.
* Will coming back and give reply to every comments they have with words like 'thanks' or 'thank you for responding'.
I don't like the third and the fourth type of discussion starter.(^^)

You may be right, Joe. So, we can always get the discussion going by just commenting on them and making the discussion alive. Then perhaps the discussion starter would realize that this is the way to earn.
I noticed that some myLotters would leave a statement like "I don't see the discussion starter around" or "I hope the discussion starter would come back to give his opinion on this" or something like that. And I think sometimes that works.

I do go back to my discussions and comment back to the responders. I have been a bit lax with my last discussion, but I do intend to go back and comment again on all the replies I got since my last pass through it.
I have also noticed particular members that never seem to comment back on any of their discussions. I have taken it upon myself to reply to as many of the responses as I could in some of these discussion, especially if it is a discussion topic that interests me. There are some people that do not seem to like this sort of behavior, but others do appreciate it, because it gives them an opportunity to discuss a topic that they obviously were interested in or they would not have responded on it.

But at least we have the intention and do comment back. I always take my time in commenting back to the responses I get in my discussions. I don't do it all in one day if there are too many responses. I'll just take my time, so long as I do comment back.
Yes, I too comment back on others' discussions the way you do. How else is it going to be a discussion if there is no one to discuss with?

I am often late in my comments, because 1) I have days where I am lazy and 2) I don't always receive notifications of comments on comments and I have to check my old discussions to find them. I have found like this some very good comments several weeks after they were made and in this case I hesitate to comment back.

For the 2) I generally find new comments when I think to check my "started" discussions -- when I am not too lazy --. I am probably missing many comments in discussions I have responded too, because I don't check them after 2 or 3 days. As you said, browsing responses to find a comment takes time.

Lol! The magnet is there.
Top,
1) You can always come back when you are not lazy.
2) You can always check back your comments on comments from your activity page, it's easier that way cause you will be directed to the exact place where you left your comments.
I still will go back to old comments that I have posted when I suddenly thought of it. And searching for it does really take time.

Hi
I have seen few lotters come back lately and then reply back. And yes some users also used to never reply on their discussions. They should understand that commenting back to those responses will only give good earnings to them. They are not going to earn anything only by responses..

Normally I would comment back on the responses received to my own discussions. Sometimes I do not post my comments when the response isn't upto the mark or may be irrelevant to the core issue of the post.
Some of the users do not read the entire text of the discussion and just respond by reading its title.
When they are reminded that they missed the main issue in the discussion, they will coolly say - "Oh! they did not read the entire post". Seeing this kind of comments you have no option but to scratch your head or pull your hair.

...it won't be possible to pull others hair, because they are invisible and will run away if we try to pill up their hair.
It is really disappointing that many do not read the entire text and write whatever comes in their mind.

But I do feel the same when they babbling about things which has nothing to do with the topic. I don't want to pull my hair or scratch my head/ face. I think next time I will tell them that they makes me feel so.(^^)What if they start with points regarding the topic but then slowly stray away from the main thing?? (^^)

Hi dpk
If only we could scratch their heads and pull their hair, right?(^^)
Most of mylotters did not even read the whole text of the discussions. Most of them admitted that they just read the title only. There are many senior members complained about it and they should take such thing seriously.

I think that it's about right that posters also comment back to people who have responded to their discussions. Since people took the time to put in their ideas and opinions on the topic, they also deserve the right to know that their comments are also read and appreciated.

With all the talk lately about commenting back to responders on discussions and similar things, I guess that I have been paying more attention recently to whether or not people are commenting back to the responders on their discussions. I have noticed that some comment back to everyone, some only comment back to a certain few (not necessarily any particular person but just the responses that really grab their attention), and some never comment back to anyone - these types I can kind-of understand. What I do not understand are the ones that comment back to everyone except one or two users. I could understand it if the responses did not have anything to do with the discussion, but when they are on-topic I don't understand why people will skip over or comment around a few responses as if these responses are not worthy of a reply or something.

Hello Jenny,
I always wondered why people start discussions if they don't want to discuss that subject? If the reason of posting here had not been "discussing", maybe the topics would have been called "blogs" or "questions". But myLot adopted the term of "discussion" and that's what we're expected to do: comment back and forth over a subject that we all like.
Maybe most of the discussion starters simply ignore the notifications myLot sends to their e-mail, telling them they have new responses.

I don't think we had notifications for comments inside our discussions. There are only notifications for responses.
But the simplest way of keeping track of those comments is to check the "discussion started" tab and to see who is the user who wrote the last comment into our discussions. If it's not you, it's sure you must go check for new comments in there.

Maybe they didn't quite get the meaning of the word "discussion". For me, I always look forward to seeing notifications from myLot in my inbox.
But I do see you comment back, Topffer. Inu is right, we don't get notifications for comments in our own discussions but we do get notifications for comments in our box from other discussions. Well, at least that's what I got, but I don't know about other myLotters.
Inu, my guess is that you will always be the last person to comment on your own discussions, right?

Thank you jlyn. Though I am really slow. No hurry at all in starting a discussion I try my level best when some one comment on that. Also I do not visit here for the sake of commenting. I visit, and if any discussion of my interest is there, I will participate.

Hello jlyn,
I always try to place my comment on the responses i get on my discussion even on other discussions too.I comment to other's responses in a hope that i will find someone to interact with and will make new friends hehehe. And thats the way i make friends in offline life also.
But i swear i don't do that to earn money hehehe.
I always go to TAB discussion and go to started tab and check the latest responses and if i found mine to be the latest one i don't open it and if i find the latest response is of someone else i open the discussion and place my comment there.
But most of the time i make late entries you know that Jlyn like here too as i wanted to be the first person to respond to your discussion.

Sjvg, if you're not doing that to earn money, then you can transfer them to my account later on. Don't give to suny, okay.
No worries if you come late. I am also a latecomer as well on others' discussions. But so long as you are here, it would be fine by me.
Yes, I was myLotting until after 2am last night while you guys were sleeping like a log.

@MarieCoyle Yes, this is an old vintage post during the old myLot time, but I guess things have changed a bit now.
It's the other way round now, you don't earn if no one comments back to your responses/comments.

I started to comment on my responses. I haven't started a discussion ever since I started coming to mylot again but when someone comments on my response, I am starting to comment back. I had never checked my email that I used to sign up with mylot so I never really knew if someone commented on my response but now that I am checking it, I comment back on their comments.

I always try to respond the those who have been good enough to respond to my discussions. There are times when there's really nothing to say to the response or I can't understand what they've said; so when that happens, I just thank them for responding.

I always respond back to my responses in my discussion, because is easier for me increase my earning commenting on something that I have started so I have the knowledge to discuss.
I think isn't polite ask a question and then somebody with the purpose to help answer your question and you just ignore that answer meaning that this person was so ignorant and you are not going to consider his/her answer.
And that is the same situation that happen here when we don't appreciate the efforts of our friends that take the time to answer our discussion, having a lot of options to respond they choose our discussion and we ignore that, is not correct.
Courteousness is consideration for others; politeness is the method used to deliver such considerations.

Exactly, it is not polite either.
Because of this I check everyday all ,my discussions even the old ones besides I check my hotmail but sometimes I don't receive the lert in my Hotmail so I check one by one.
I like to answer and continue the debate of the discussion even if the discussion is a 3 month old and somebody wants to give the opinion.

I make it to the point that I answer all the comments that I get because I don't wanna be rude and of course, miss that tiny opportunity to earn extra. There were those times when I can hardly think of anything to comment but still, I manage to think of any. xD

Hi r03249
Welcome to myLot.
Tiny opportunity? It's considered big to me if I get lots of responses on my discussions. That means more money for me to earn.
Sometimes when I can't think of a comment at the moment, I would always skip that response first and come back later when I have thought of something. We don't have to rush in commenting back to responses.
Besides you own discussions, do you also check back on the responses/comments that you left on other myLotters' discussions?
