I'm a sophomore in college yet I still get asked if I want kiddie menus or they think I'm in high school. Well, it happened again today when I went to Ulta with my mom to get a new hair straightener. Today the public schools are off for the Jewish holiday and the lady was like oh, nice day off going shopping. I just looked at her and was like uhh actually I have class later since my college isn't off.
In a way, I guess looking younger can be a good thing..even though it's really annoying now. Have any of you had your age mistaken by someone?

omg it's the exact same thing with me!! I'm also 19 and people always mistake me for 14 or 15. When I don't have makeup on people will think I'm 12 or something. I've gone into a restaurant wearing a ponytail and no makeup and the lady asked if I wanted a kiddie menu! This will definitely be useful when I'm older and I'll want to look young again lol. So hey, I guess we really can't complain haha I think I'd rather look young for my age than much older.

Dont think of it as that bad.
I was in the Florida Keys the past weekend and god Id to nights in a row and its annoying and im 26 years old.
My boyfriend and me were at his house this year over the summer when the house inside was being sprayed by the pest control company. He goes isnt there school today? I was like well since i have graduated college im not in school anymore and he looked stunned and couldnt beleive i wasnt still in High school he thought i was 16 years old. Its a good thing to look younger when your older but when i get Id all the time and get asked why im not in school when there is school going on it gets annoying. Its not fun when you want to look older but you look alot younger than what you really are.

It's a good thing to have people think you look younger than you actually are. But I do agree with you that it's annoying when people ask you about high school and why you're not in school. In a way, it's kind of a compliment, just a very annoying one lol.

I am constantly assumed for being far younger than I am and it is the single most offensive thing I have to go through on a daily basis. I'm frequently assumed to be 6-10 years younger than I really am. I absolutely DESPISE it!
And what I hate even more is when people tell me I should be happy or grateful for it. Excuse me, but just because you're a vain old hag who wishes you were still a teenager does not mean I have to be the same. I am PROUD of getting older.

How does people thinking and treating me like I'm 13-16 supposed to be something to be proud of? I personally find it profoundly embarrassing.

Well when it's that young then it's annoying. I'm 19 and people think I look like a freshman in high school. I would think at older ages looking good for your age would be great. Like if you're 35 and you look so good for your age that people think you're 30 or in your late 20's. But when it's that dramatic of a difference (like having people think you look like a teen) that's when it gets to be annoying.

Even though you should be proud of getting older, you should also be proud to hear those things because that means you're aging really well. I do agree it's annoying to have people say you look so much younger. I don't want to look a lot younger, I just want to look good for my age.

Well don't let that bother you, it's really bad when you're in your late 20's and people still think that you're in school. I was even asked by the driver if I was a student the other day, it wasn't funny anymore hehehe... Perhaps she thought you were in high school because most students in high school look mature now, and perhaps it was because you were with your mom. How many college students still hang around with their moms anyway? Not that much.
Though it has it's up-side, it simply means that you have good genes. You wouldn't want to be older than you really are.
Have a great MyLot experience ahead.

Oh yeah, you're right about the kids these days. There are even those in 5th grade who are wearing make-up and acting as if she's a lady. Way back in my high school times, we'd still run around play games! hhahahaha..
Whew, these generation now would certainly look older than they really are when they grow old.

Exactly! In my opinion, parents let their daughters grow up wayyyy too fast. I never started wearing makeup until probably my junior and senior year of high school. Now, they start wearing makeup so young! It just seems weird to me that they'd let their little girls grow up so fast like this.

Yeah, being in your late 20's and having people think you're in school still would be extremely annoying. To me, it seems like kids nowadays look much older than they actually are. I remember when I was in middle school and starting high school I recognized how young we all looked. Now when I see middle schoolers, they all look so much older. My cousin just started high school and she's always looked older. In middle school she'd been mistaken for a 16 year old if she went places with me. She's also taller than me so that didn't help either. I'm glad I look young, I'll be thankful when I'm older. It must be the genes because my great grandma is 96 or 97 and she looks great. I've seen people in their 50s and 60s that look a lot worse (I'm not saying she looks bad or anything, she looks amazing for her age!) Even my grandparents don't look their age which is 72 or 73. I think it just runs in the family :)

Pfft! BE GLAD YOU STILL LOOK YOUNG! Panic when people start asking for your ID. Why?
When they start asking for your ID, you've hit the ancient limit. When I was 17 I snuck into a casino a day before my 18th birthday when I was on the verge of weight loss... Being a little 'heavy' and lack of sleep can make you age more. o.O
Luckily I reversed that down to 106lbs and maintained my sleeping patterns (I'm short so it's okay), and people started asking for my ID again. Besides, younger people get away with more things than the adults. xD
I'm 20, and some guys at the gaming store I go to think I'm 17 again. ^^
o.O But the guy at a gas station at night never asked me for my ID for a lottery ticket. D: GaaaahHhhhhhhhhhh! I'm gettin old.
Treasure your youthful looks, when you start discovering you have wrinkles, greys... Then things would be ... Different.

Ester from the movie Orphan passed my mind. xD
Be glad you still look young. :D
I was mistaken by someone before, and not just once or twice but at lot of times. Sometimes it's a bit annoying when you know that that someone is far from the way you see yourself in the mirror or that that someone looks odd for you. xD
just saying.. :D
Have a great day!

Haha too funny, that movie was pretty creepy. For me, it's not that bad. People just think I'm like 5 years younger than I actually am. Right now it's annoying but I'm sure when I'm older I'll love it.

I am in a very similar position to you because I look a lot younger than I am. I am 21 at the moment, and often get told that I look more like 16 or something like that. It is a good thing, and you will be glad of it when you're older and the other people your age are stressed because they think that they look older than they are. You should always make sure that you're carrying your identification documents incase you get asked how old you are in an important situation if you should need to do so for some reason.

It's good to look younger than our age.
You should be proud of it.
I know it feels annoying sometimes, but, you will get to love the feeling once you get older and people will think you are 10 years younger than your actual age.
have a good day

You should be flattered that you've been regarded that young!
I'm sure you'd go missing it when you don't get that anymore. Which means you're looking your age already!
I think the time when you wouldn't like people thinking that you're still young is when you're already working. When people think you're still immature and can't handle bigger responsibilities (and bigger paychecks).

Yes, in a way it's sort of nice knowing that I look younger than my age. I think it'll be better once I'm older and people stop thinking I'm in high school or trying to give me kiddie menus at restaurants. The other day I ate at the restaurant where my boyfriend works and he was standing at the back with his friend and I guess he pointed me out to him and his friend asked my boyfriend if I was 16. I don't know why but sometimes I get sort of offended by it. Not in a big way, but it's just one of those little things that bugs me lol. One day I'm sure I'll end up loving it

You remind me of a day I was traveling with my younger brother. So we boarded on bus which had only one seat left, and where we we going was not far so my brother had to stand just for a while. There was this guy who was looking at me as if he was gonna punch me, I asked him why he was staring like me, in answer he asked me why I was sitting while my older brother was standing. I did not argue with him, I just ignored him. The reason for this was, by then my brother had beards which I did not have.
I just hate being belittled because I look young...

That's pretty funny. I definitely think that guys with facial hair look older for their age. It's good you look younger though! I'd rather look young for my age than look a lot older than I actually am.

It's great to look young though. For me, I look like my age but I have a cousin who is really short and she's like 27 but people think she's only in her teens! Sometimes you can use your young look to your advantage! When I went to the Easter show with my cousin, she was probably around 23 back then, she asked the ticket person for two child tickets. Amazingly, the ticket lady believed my cousins was like 12! and my cousins got away with a child's ticket which was like half an adult ticket. So there's nothing bad about looking young! But sometimes when you want to watch a mature movie and you don't have your ID card, then that might be problem. My friends were not allowed to watch a 15+ movie just because they looked like little kids.

lol Exactly! If I go into a restaurant with a ponytail, the hostess will ask if I want a kiddie menu and I'm just like uhh I'm 19 but thanks anyways. I guess it's better to look younger than to look older.

Be HAPPY when people think you're still young. There's no problem with that. Never get annoyed or pissed off, just give them a cheerful smile and tell them your age. They will surely be amazed.
Sometimes, the looks play a great factor in that matter. Probably you really look very young for your age, and it's a good thing. Enjoy every single day! We all know we can never turn back time. Stay HAPPY! :)

When I'm older, I don't think I'd get annoyed. But right now, when people think I'm only 14 when I'm actually 19, that's when I get annoyed. I actually think it'll be a good thing to look young for my age when I'm older.

Actually, you shld feel gd that you look younger, isn't it? :) Pp often call me 'xiao mei' (which means 'young girl') even though I'm no longer a young girl. One disadvantage of looking too young is that pp (in my country, at least) often equate 'looking young' with 'being incompetent'.

When I was a student teacher in a high school, I was about 22. I and another student teacher were often asked for our student ID when we were in the high school library, and it was student clerks who were asking us for it. What was worse was when we walked into the teachers' staff room. The teachers who didn't know us that first week looked at us like "What are students doing in the teachers' lounge?"
But the worst was at the end of that year when I was coming to the end of my first semester as a real English teacher. I taught seniors, and all the teachers had to go and stand around and chaperone at the graduation practice in the auditorium in dowtown Long Beach where the graduation was to be held. So I was standing there while the students were having to find partners to march in with. Yup! Some shy young guy asked if I'd be his marching partner. How do you think he felt when I told him I was a teacher?
