I read an interesting article about saving money and helping families in awake! last night. I came across an interesting tip to help keep budget which was a two sided sheet of paper. I was thinking that you know, sometimes it's easy to keep hand written details on paper of what you do online because you can easily lose data on your pc. Do you keep up with everything on paper?

I started a notebook several times, because I thought the same way as you did. But,it always seemed to get misplaced because we had to move or put stuff in storage.
There has been some times when my computer would go down and I would lose my bookmarks, like I have done recently. And now I have to try and remember where everything is.Which doesn't happen a lot.
I think I should start a smaller notebook again and carry it in my bag,so it doesn't end up in storage or misplaced.

That is exactly why I use a notebook. I have lost things before and even tho manytimes I can recover them...why put myself through all that hassel and torment?!?! I just open my notebook, flip to the section I want and look at the last entry. How easy! I have an address book with all my email names, contacts, passwords etc in it. Granted if I loose that I am sunk, but I can have total control over that...while the internet nad PC...others have some control and they can crash and mess up and me not do a thing! But me has to fix it!!! I say "write it down"...works great!

I am the same, i look at my handwriting and tell myself that it is so stupid...then i throw the book away. Coffeebreak has the right idea, he has that notebook with all the information there already. :) I am a little bit of a procrastinator, i judge my handwriting and everything too harshly and I don't allow myself to keep everything intact. :)

Yeah, but it's good to make it a free account such as Gmail and keep them in the documents that way if your computer goes down you won't lose it all.

I used to have it on paper a while back. I stopped doing that and saved it to a removeable device.

Why remember so much stuff if you don't have to? I mean, some you have to remember, but others...why clutter your brain if having it written down works? I have an address book and all my sites and emails addys and such are in the address book. Doing things repeatedly I often remember them but I actually don't try to remember or retain them. Got far to many other things that is mandatory to remember than to clutter my brain with all that junk...as necessary junk as it is! I keep my banking in a green ledger sheet...old fashioned for sure, but it does the trick. I don't have to wait to log on ....do account name, do pin, do password....all that crap and then find the page I need to review...when all I have to do it pick up my notebook, flip to the section that has my banking and look at the last figure on the page! How easy is that!!!! PRetty dang easy, that's how easy it is! Somethings are best left unchanged!

give it a try! I find it works very well... i mean...how many passwords or pins or account names, usernames do you have? Do you really remember them all and if so...WHY!!!!!!???? Why remember something you might only use a time or two a week?

I actually have a notebook for my online sites. It is mostly for me to store my user-name and password since I use different kinds. I read once that it is smarter to use different passwords to avoid identity theft. I put everything in paper though. I still have a phone and address book even if it is already stored in my phone. I find it easier in the long run.

Of course not. Imagine the situation you need to write down the complete link of the website. It's extremely easy for human errors to occur. But if your are saying about the things that appear to your mind in a sudden, I personally think you should get a piece of paper and write them down as bullet points--it's just easier for yourself to keep an eye on it!

You can also copy and paste it into bit.ly so that you have it when you need it there. Sometimes, I use lnk.co as a short name. The whole records are there to remember ie: my blog is lnk.co/npfa

I save and bookmark everything and back up my data every week so I have little chance of losing anything. I have links saved on a document too because it is so easy to come across something really interesting and stress later about not being able to find it again!

I know, losing a name and not remembering it is a pain. Procrastination of not writing it down is one of my major things. Thanks for the comment. Bookmarking links is intellgent because referrals come from social networking too.

Hi Samafayla, I tend to keep the important details on a notebook, such as the user name and password to a certain website.
However, I do not keep details of earnings or whatever.
I just use two different email accounts to save the miscellaneous details.
That means I send email from one email account to another, so that both email accounts have the copy.
Best to create one gmail account, one yahoo account, and hotmail if you can afford the time to maintain the account.

I like to do graphic design sometimes and I'll have an idea for something i am using with the gimp. That graphic's forgotten. I have been thinking of getting a pen drive for documents and pictures. The problem with filesharing is you aren't through completely with your graphic and you saved it for later and the pen drives save what a cd-r won't.

My brother use Index Card to save all his sites where he is engaged. Take down notes the Username, Password, Security Question and others stuff to validate that account really belongs to my brother. And also compiled them an Excel file. Just in case.
Since most of the time PC or HDD bug down not only to me but for all user of PC and Laptop.

When I started doing online stuff, I used a notebook to keep track of my usernames and passwords. But I move around a lot, and notebooks and papers gets lost along the way. So I stopped using notebooks and papers. I prefer using excel on my laptop/PC. and I have an external hardrive, where I keep all important files for easier access. =)

I do both paper and usually an Excel file just to keep track of things. I have a specific notebook for each of the different things I do. One is for budget, one is for online work, goals, etc. And then I have my files on my computer and back them up. Sometimes the Excel sheet is a much easier wat to keep track.

Oh yes, I do keep a notebook of the writing websites that I'm active in. I write for several writing websites and for each website, I have a notebook with the titles of the articles I have written. The articles themselves are kept in my hard drive. This way I can keep track of all my articles without having to go online.
