After they have logged out!
Yes!
It is being discovered by technology bloggers that the social networking site monitors the other webpages their users visit even when they have logged out from the social networking site. The data that is sent back to Facebook's servers include the IP address, or unique identifier of our computers, and a log of what we had been viewing.
You may ask what use does these information have. Let's just say that these information help Facebook make billions of dollars each year from advertising, as such information is highly valuable.
You are not hearing it wrong and so much to their respect (if any) or regards to users' privacy I am sure this news is not going to go down well with anyone.
Mr Arturo Bejar, Engineer Director of Facebook may have admitted this disturbing fact about this tracking, and though was quick to point out that the data was being deleted almost right away.
I am sorry but I just have my doubts and would like to ask that question in every Facebook users and non users' minds -
"Just who are you trying to kid?"

That's just dumb. Half the time I will be on facebook when I'm on the internet so there's no point of tracking what other sites I visit. It feels like an invasion of privacy because what websites we go on is our own business. Unless you want to share that information through a survey. But this is not a survey.

helloiam,
My exact sentiments.
Since the beginning, I have never trusted the moral compass of this social networking site and this is not surprising. But, I just detest their uncharacteristic behavior, owning up only after being exposed.

I am really not concerned about this as I delete all tracks when I close the site.
There are a few places that I allow to use my computer when I am not using it but they pay for that privilege. I would allow facebook the same if they were to ask.
