Hi mark,
Yoga make you stay healthy and fit mentally, physically and even spiritual discipline. It is basically meditation done with a focus to have a peace in one's life. There are a lot of 'Asanas'(postures) practiced for fitness of each and every part of our body. In general Yoga is not for gaining or losing weight. Yes, there are certain postures to be followed for reducing tummy, back pain etc. There are also many easy to follow postures that can be done daily for a healthy body.

Hi Mark,
Yes Yoga does help. But it only helps those people who are regular in yoga. People who take yoga as quick weight loss program, just come back heart broken. Its a great process and it takes time. It not only bring down your weight but also strengthen your body.

I have read articles telling yoga is the new trend in weight loss. I think it's another trend and fad just like aerobics some years ago. I did group aerobics but when we stop, the more weights we gained. I am sticking to my walking ,it's free and proven. But if you are into yoga, hope it work for you.

I also think yoga does help to reduce weight. Yoga helps to increase the burning of fat and also increasing the the metabolism. With increasing metabolism more fat will be burned and more weight will be lost.

Have you ever done yoga? Honestly, I was completely skeptical on thinking that yoga could help promote weight loss until I tried it on my wii fitness just playing around and that definately works a lot of muscles and I was pooped by the time I was done!
