new concept

In our high pressured worlds we are encouraged to do, do, something, anything just so you are busy. Then I came across this little article and a laight came on in my brain, see it it does for you. "Do Nothing and Be Everything This may be perhaps the best advice I have ever received in my entire life. It goes against everything that we have all been taught to become someone successful in life. Yet, each time when I truly let go and do absolutely nothing, expecting no results from existence, I suddenly discover a spaciousness inside me where I slowly become one with everything and everyone. Whenever you are today and whatever you do with your time, just take a few moments to sit and reflect on this possibility to let go of doing and become this sitting, relaxed, stillness, that is breathing. Be open to something new and you just might discover the most amazing experience available on Earth. Who knew that being nothing would feel ohhh sooooo good!"

Doing nothing is absolutely necessary for our peace of mind. It is amazing what insights and solutions to problems pop up when we STOP thinking. It is only then that we can hear our own thoughts and intuition as well as wise advice from higher sources.

Hi savypat, I made a copy of this discussion so that I could read it several times a day for the next few days, I hope you don't mind. I feel that there is something very special about "do nothing and be everything". I'm always looking for new ideas and different ways of looking at things. This appears to be great stuff. Blessings.

That reminds me of a Bible verse, "Be still and know that I am God". In other words, stop doing anything and just BE. People who don't stop and just be are missing out on one of the best pleasures in life. We are too busy nowadays, too busy to think, to devote all our attention to our spouse or children, too busy to even acknowledge life. I "do nothing" at least once a day. It anchors me and gives me strength.

Yes we must do something for everything. Life is meaningless if we are engaged in selfish end. We each individual is nothing but we are something when we become collective force. We are all for each and each for all.

Although we cannot "do nothing" all our lives, because we have to take care of our bodies, food and the rest, it is absolutly necessary that we leave a parto fo our day to do wahat you say is nothing. Some people meditate, some others just enjoy the wonder of being in the middle of this miracle, some ohter people let themselves go. The ancient latins talked abot "otium" and "nec otium". Nec otium was business and not well seen. Otium was to enhance our souls as it was creatitive in an inner sense.

I don't know that I would ever be able to call it being nothing, but what you've shared here definitely does reinforce the fact that we need to take a little bit of time out of every day that we are alive to reflect on ourselves and to have some quiet time. In fact, my need for quiet time is actually one of the main reasons that I stay up so late. The rest of my family are late bodied people as well and I really need to have a little bit of time of my own.

I get this. I really do. I know that when I am under pressure or I want or need to get something done, I stress about it and keep on going until I finish, but what happens is that I always hit a wall. I understand this letting go and do nothing. I have noticed this a few times in my life. It's like when you're looking for something that you cannot find and you drive yourself crazy looking, you never find it. But when you're not looking for it, it pops up somewhere. I think it's all about clearing out your mind and relaxing until you refuel and regain your metal process.

I usually do this before I get up. I let my mind float when it is most relaxed. I also take my walks through a park or vineyard and just absorb the beauty. It is good for my soul to feel at one with nature and its and my Creator. When I work alone in the garden is another time I can find this sort of peace and time to reflect.
