I have many hobbies that I enjoy. It is sometimes difficult to tag a place a specific interest to a specific subject or category. many of my interests overlap each other.
Like the canon that I made. The barrel is about 65Cm long and I made it on a metal lathe. The carriage is made of wood and the wheels are wood and metal. the only comon thing is that all is in miniature. I also made a miniature windpump that actually works like a real one. Presently I am bussy making a model of a 1964 Massey Furguson Tractor. I don't belive in purchasing parts. I make everything myself.
I don't understand what the fun is in purchasing ready-made parts and then just assembling the model according to a diagram and instructions.
I once went to a "Hobby shop" in search of blades for my scroll saw. When I asked an attendant among the most beautiful models of trains, cars, aeroplanes, etc. for the blades, he asked me what is a scroll saw. I was so supprised and when I asked him how on earth can a person work with those models and not know what a basic tool like a scroll saw is, he simply said that they get it fully assembled from the factories.
No one in that shop could give me a proper answer to the next question "where is the fun in purchasing an already assembled model?"
I also do video editing and transfering from VHS and BETA tapes to DVD. Presently I am working on plans to make a machine to trensfer old 8mm film to DVD.
Are there any one out there that shares my interests?
