I feel that in this country, people are placing more emphasis on animals and pets than they do their own children. Society seems to look out for pets more than they get concerned about pets. Pets can take care of themselves even in the wild. they are made that way, by God. Children are given parents to make sure they are well taken care of. What is your opinion on this?

You know what, I agree and it makes me sick. Now let me just say that I don't think animals should be abused. The starving cat that gets kicked by its owner everyday should indeed be confiscated, but should this cat get priority over a child that is abused?
In my own neighborhood there was a battered women's shelter (hat took in women with kids) that had to shut down because of a lack of donations. However the animal shelter on the same street expanded recently because of a surge in donations. That's great but what does that say about my community? Do the people here value animal life above human life?
I don't think we end the organizations that help abused animals. However I do think we need to focus more on the organizations that are there for abused humans - children especially. These should not have to be shut down while the animal ones thrive. There is just something really wrong with that.

I agree. It seems as animal abuse is worse than child abuse when it really isn't. I do not approve of either but I think more should be done about child abuse. In my opinion, they should just put forward more effort to catching those who abuse children. Children can't take of themselves, you're right. I think there should be more consequences for the abuse of a child.
