Hello myloters please does any one knows the cure for an itching that the doctors dont know the cause. I have ben having this problem now for almost ten years. I have seen so may dermatologists snd they just dont seem to get it. Some claim I have dry skin and I have been treating that for a long time yet no improvement. It is so frustrating. Most times I have to take an antihstamine before I can sleep. I am tied of those drugs plus the fact that I always feel that all drugs have side effects especially when used for a long time. I have checked the internet also but all the suggestions dont seem to work for me. Any experienced idea(s) please!

I think what you are talking is called Pruritus, itchy skin. Here is a link for the Mayo Clinic that will give you more information and some helpful advice on how to deal with it. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/itchy-skin/DS00847 I hope this helps :)

Hmm, is it constant itching or traveling itchy, do you it all the time or now and then? I have Fibromyalgia, I get itching but its traveling, and its annoying, there is no reason for the itching other than my nerves are sending the wrong signal. So I scratch, sometimes putting lotion on helps. I also get this feeling that some thing is crawling on me, or like an itching under the skin. All in all its annoying more than anything. I don't have anything wrong with me besides the Fibromyalgia and few other health issues. Sorry I can't be much more of a help but I sure empathise with you! I know what its like to have something that takes forever to be diagnosed.

Have you tried eliminating the cause by trial on the food that you are eating? I myself have itchiness but i know the cause of it so i try to avoid the food that causes it. try to use fluocinolone ointment. it relieves any form of ointment. Once i was advised to have the panel back skin testing to check the different cause of my allergies.you can ask the dermatologist about it. it is quite expensive but it will help in knowing the cause of your pruritus. try detoxifying diet too. it helps in cleansing the body of toxins. I did that and Im happy with the effects because I became slim.:-)

have you tried to observe and record what causes your allergy? maybe if you keep track of the food you eat and your exposure to different physical elements like sun, heat, water, etc, it may help you in detecting the factors that cause your allergy. it may seem to be tiresome but if you want to know the cause of it then maybe you really have to make an effort . i would like to correct the name of the ointment, i found the tube and the name is floucinonide ointment.:-D. hope you can be relieved.

I have the same problem. Sometimes it's worse than other times and I have to take antihistamine. I don't have dry skin, so lotions don't help at all. One thing I finally tracked down (why don't they tell us these things??) is that too much phosphorus in the diet can cause itchy skin. I've made an effort to cut back and it seems to help. If you drink soft drinks, they're high in phosphorus, but other things have it, too. It might be worth looking into. Thank heavens for antihistamines! My kidneys don't process antihistamines and other medicines the way they should so I take a quarter of generic zyrtec and that does the trick.

I'm so sorry to hear that. I myself has allergy and I'm fortunate to know where I am allergic from. Apart from consulting a Dermatologist, did you also try consulting an Allergologist/Allergist? I believe there is a blood test that is conducted by an Allergologist to help you determine where the allergies are coming from. It will be costly to take that lab test but it's worth the cost once you have found out the cause of your allergy. Try watching your diets as well because most of the allergies came from the food we intake. Once the itch occurs, recall all the foods you've eaten, medicines you've taken and/or drinks you've drank as it will be helpful for you isolate the origination of your allergy...

If an antihistamine stops the itch, I would say you have an allergy. Even eating some foods can cause problems. I know one person allergic to pecan tree blossoms. Whenever they bloomed, look out. A specialist can narrow it down for you.

I have tried severally to monitor what I eat but I just can not link the itching to anything yet.
