I have been wanting to start my own blog for awhile now. I have blogged on different websites, but I don't like not be able to own my own work once I put it on those websites. Does anyone know of a website that I could start a blog for free and still retain ownership of my work?

Someone has already suggested BlogSpot or Blogger. You can start a blog using Wordpress for free too. You could buy your own domain but that entails a yearly fee and, personally I don’t see the point when you can do the same with the free ones. I would check out Wordpress. Good luck with it!

Hi! you know i have been wanting to do that too, but i looked at some blogging sites and they are not fair to the blogger. Why dont you try here in mylot, i know they will pay you too for your blog and its for free. My friend tried it already and she was paid. I just dont know how to go about it that is why i could not proceed. My daughter is fond of blogging and she uses the site Blogger, though she cannot monetize her blogs according to her because she is not yet eighteen years old. Sorry for not being of help so much.

I have a blog on Blogger and Wordpress. Blogger is the site I prefer. It's so simple any beginner can use it. Blogger, as far as I know, do not retain the right to your work. But if you're still worried you can always use copyright sites like Creative Commons or First Rights. The latter will copyright every post.
The Reason why I don't like Wordpress is because the free version is a bear to use and they don't give you much to work with. Anything worth using, you must upgrade to their paid version. That's my experience anyhow. Having said that, our publishing firm uses Wordpress, but I am not the one who maintains that.

Blogger, Wordpress, and Tumblr are blogs I use and they really do help me get some extra traffic to my articles.
